It was a surprise... a bit like when you would never say it on impact and then, instead, it surprises you.
From the outside you don't even notice it and honestly it doesn't give the impression of a "nice little restaurant/tavern"...then once inside, we were amazed by the room overlooking the lake.
Attentive and friendly staff, albeit very young, and dishes that are not at all "poor" in terms of quantity. Amazing first courses and really good second courses with meat.

Place located before arriving at Castel Gandolfo, from the outside it doesn't look like much, but as soon as you enter inside it is wonderful, there is a wonderful view of Lake Albano seen from above and the place is also well furnished. The service was well done and above all very fast. To eat we had an appetizer with mixed cured meats, buffalo mozzarella and ricotta and everything was really excellent and of good quality. Then we had a plate of bucatini amatriciana and pappardelle with white wild boar ragout, both good. We didn't take anything else because the portions of the first courses were very generous and we were full. For all this with a large still water and a small coke we spent €42.50 so it's okay.

I rarely return to restaurants by purposely deviating itineraries (I always prefer to discover new places), but in this case I was very happy to return (taking advantage of the fact that I didn't know Castel Gandolfo) and I can't help but praise this restaurant, located in a very panoramic position , which focuses on tradition and meat. Let yourself be led on this little journey by the very kind and quick staff and savor the first courses (delicious), but reserve a place for the grilled meats and sautéed vegetables in the pan...pure enjoyment.

I stopped for a coffee and cake before walking the heard.
The view is wonderful over Lake Albano.

Classic castle fraschetta with a beautiful view of the lake. We had a classic mixed appetizer with tomato bruschetta, cheeses, cured meats and porchetta, good enough. Subsequently we opted for the first courses, pappardelle with wild boar, good and the sauce was not bad, classic amatriciana, good but not completely satisfactory. Overall we didn't have a bad meal. On weekends it is advisable to book, as there is parking outside which is not exactly adequate, especially given the turnout on weekends.

Pranzo tra amici. Periodo di funghi porcini e allora tutti con i funghi. Ottimi.
Porzioni abbondanti. Piatti della tradizione laziale e tipici romani. Di domenica è necessario prenotare e c'è sempre tanta gente.

Un pranzo domenicale vista lago.
Personale giovane ma molto professionale ed accogliente.Locale accogliente,servizio attento e rapido ma non invadente. Antipasto formaggi e salumi molto particolari,fettuccine con funghi ,pancetta e pachino,porcini di secondo,crostata ricotta e visciole.Tutto buonissimo ed abbondante.Vino della casa,prezzi onesti ,vista la qualità.Torneremo per assaggiare la tagliata!
