On our way back from a seaside holiday we decide to visit the beautiful town of Montagnana which is part of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. When it’s time for lunch, passing under the arcades in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, our eye falls on Le delizie di GiaLau (where the name stands for the initials of the two owners, husband and wife Gianni in the dining room and Laura in the kitchen). It is a delicatessen that sells top quality products from all over Italy including the very famous Veneto DOP raw ham. Here you can find the one from the Doniolo ham factory exclusively. Inside there is a tasting room that allows you to choose, in addition to the à la carte menu, two menu proposals which consist of an appetizer with early meats, cheeses and a first or second course. In addition to water, wine and cover charge. The quality of the dishes was surprising and they were described with great passion by Mr. Gianni who shows how much passion he puts into his work and pampers you by describing the warm bread of Altamura or bringing you a warm slice of focaccia. If you come to Montagna and want to have a high-level culinary experience, Le Delizie di GiaLau is an absolute must-try. The quality-price ratio is extraordinary

Welcoming place and intimate atmosphere, perfect for a quiet evening. The cured meats and cheeses are really excellent quality, served in generous portions and at a more than fair price. The possibility of purchasing the products directly in the shop is very interesting: a nice idea also for a gift or to share at home. The proposed menus are well thought out and satiate without weighing you down. The only thing that would further improve the experience would be the addition of some vegetable-based side dishes, to better balance the meal. Friendly and attentive staff. Must try!

I had lunch with the family on the Sunday of the Montagnana ham fair, everything was excellent: hospitality, attention and courtesy and naturally excellent food.

English: A sought-after place for a travel break, but then given the uniqueness of the place we stayed for a full lunch. The name of the place could mislead you into thinking it is something run by non-Italians: Gialau. But then we discovered that it corresponds to the initials of the 2 owners: Italians. You enter and immediately notice a nice counter of specialties: cheeses, hanging cured meats, Apulian bread, wines and more also for purchase and take-away. Medium-high prices appropriate for the uniqueness. Another option for consuming is to find a place in the small internal room, no more than ten tables. We were lucky but it is better to call and book if you do not want to wait or risk not eating. Since it is indicated outside GASTRONOMY I thought that the table service was unprofessional: instead, a very good boy, helped by the owner demonstrated speed, attention, professionalism in the service (excellent replacement of cutlery and service of dishes in order as per the etiquette of a starred restaurant). They offer 3 different menus where you can choose the dishes (see photo). Good portions, tasty and well-cooked dishes, and they arrive quickly with acceptable times, the menus also include drinks with the possibility of choice. The house wine is also good and does not bother after lunch. Coffee and desserts available. Electronic payments accepted. A place that is not a restaurant, certainly worth a try to taste culinary specialties from the entire Italian territory or dishes well-cooked by them. Compliments to Mrs. Laura who prepares and sells the various products from behind the counter. Very honest prices for a lunch. The room is equipped with air conditioning in the summer.

Mi mancava da tempo essere coccolata con un servizio di ottima qualità e conviviale, educato e presente. Davvero bravi tutti: - i titolari che con presenza elegante vengono al tavolo per spiegare la scelta delle materie prime (tutte eccellenze Italia premiate) Mario: elemento fondamentale in questo quadro perfetto....capace, sorridente ed educato. Questo locale rispetta quello che mi piacerebbe fosse il ns paese....un insieme di qualità, bellezza, educazione, sorrisi e tanto studio e ricerca. BRAVI DAVVERO!
