For several years now, whenever I am in the area, I have been happy to stop and eat at Colonnine. Both the first courses, the meat or the pizza are fantastic. I love eating outside under the portico, but the internal rooms are also special. Fantastic staff who always know how to suggest the right wine. More than fair prices, fantastic service.
Here you can find typical Tuscan specialties such as sbriciolona, pennette al Chianti, stewed wild boar... A stone's throw from Santa Croce is the typical tourist restaurant with a small space on the street and a large, spacious interior. However, some details regarding the food are not convincing. As an appetizer I took the sbriciolona with cherry tomatoes... The sbriciolona, it was pointed out to me by the person originally from Florence who was with me, that in reality it is finocchiona (the same but much thinner). For the second course I chose an entrecote with green pepper, a good part of which was almost inedible as it was all nerves. I forgot the house wine... sold as Chianti it tasted, in my opinion, rather watered down.
