A simple, no-frills atmosphere, but with carefully crafted, vibrant Sicilian cuisine. Excellent value for money.

After asking (as always a good idea) our taxi driver upon arriving, he recommended this place as we drove up. Taxi drivers know. We ended up eating lunch here 3 days in a row it was that good. Locals mainly, non touristy. Family run. Great people watching on the patio, cold beers, great wine and good home Sicilian cooking. Close to our hotel. Prices outside the Porta Catania gate are much cheaper than the main area of Taormina. It's where the locals go. Highly recommend.

Incredible restaurant. Very cosy and the food is amazing for a very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who visits Taormina and is looking for a restaurant a bit offcenter and calmer but even more so cosier than any other restaurant.

Nel cuore della splendida Taormina, tra vicoli acciottolati e scorci mozzafiato sul mare, si trova un piccolo gioiello della cucina siciliana: Trattoria Da Ugo. Una vera esperienza per chi cerca autenticità, sapori genuini e accoglienza calorosa. Appena entrati si respira l’atmosfera tipica di una trattoria di una volta: pochi tavoli, arredamento semplice ma curato, e un profumo invitante che arriva direttamente dalla cucina aperta. Il personale è straordinariamente cordiale, con Ugo stesso che spesso passa tra i tavoli per scambiare due parole con gli ospiti, facendo sentire tutti come a casa. Un vino locale prodotto da loro, vino bianco Ugo! Il menù è un inno alla tradizione siciliana. Abbiamo iniziato con un antipasto di salumi e formaggi e pane caldo fatto in casa. Come primo, la pasta maccheroni alla Ugo è stata una vera rivelazione – melanzane fritte alla perfezione, ricotta salata abbondante e un sugo di pomodoro che sapeva davvero di sole e pistacchio. Il secondo?Indimenticabili polpette alla foglia di limone magistralmente e servita con patate al forno. Ogni piatto è preparato con ingredienti locali e una passione che si sente ad ogni boccone. Non si può andar via senza assaggiare i dolci: la cassata siciliana con ricotta fresca e scorza d’arancia candita è una delle migliori che abbia mai provato!

Viajando con otra pareja, comimos y bebimos bien con nuestras recomendaciones de vino tinto y blanco de Gabrielle. El cálido ambiente familiar, deliciosas comidas, a un precio justo, y el personal atento era justo lo que esperábamos encontrar y hacer nuestras vacaciones aún más memorable. No dude en probarlo.
