The room service was fantastic.

I was on this terrace with its truly beautiful view for a family event… a beautiful place, everything was meticulously designed, the staff were kind and helpful, but above all, the food was top-notch… We truly had a divine lunch.

To celebrate our anniversary, we turned to the renowned professionalism and renown of the Grand Hotel Ortigia, and were never disappointed. The meticulous organization of every detail of the banquet, from the layout and decor to the menu selection and impeccable service from the reception desk to the terrace, met and exceeded our every expectation. Together with our families, we spent a delightful and relaxing evening, characterized by the delicacy and understated elegance we desired. A special thanks goes to the kindness and courtesy of Cinzia, who understood and realized our intentions, discreetly guiding us in our choices and carefully coordinating every phase of the event. The availability of private parking, offered by the management, was particularly appreciated. We hope to enjoy the hospitality of the Grand Hotel Ortigia again, certain of reliving unforgettable and exclusive moments.

The Grand Hotel Ortigia offers a terrace with a magnificent view. The location is beautiful and the ambiance perfect. As for the restaurant, we found excellent service. As for the food, I'll take the liberty of judging the dishes we ordered. The appetizer was good. The two first courses were quite good, but fundamentally unbalanced and therefore perhaps not up to par with the place. The second course was good. Overall, the food was good. I'd say if you're passing through Ortigia and have the opportunity, this place is worth a visit.

I went with my partner for a special dinner during our vacation. The place was enchanting from the moment you enter: the photos speak for themselves. Spectacular view of the harbor, highly recommended at sunset. Intimate, elegant, and refined location: ask to dine on the terrace!! Truly top-notch service: one thing I'd like to say, and which is not at all a given, is that they are REALLY FRIENDLY AND SMILING, which—contrary to what people say—is not so commonplace; we often found people with long faces in other places during our vacation. High-quality ingredients, appropriate portions, and fair prices considering the location. Dishes that aren't overly complex but showcase the raw ingredients. Desserts might need revisiting, but the rest is truly out of this world! An experience worth trying, especially for a romantic dinner.

Let me set the scene: it’s 19:30 on a warm June evening, the kind where the sky melts into gold, a breeze wraps around you like a silk scarf, and swallows swoop through the air like they were choreographed just for your arrival. You take a tiny glass elevator to the top floor of the Grand Hotel Ortigia and boom—you step into one of the most elegant rooftop settings in Sicily. We had called just the day before to book and were lucky to find a spot (end of June = still doable, but I’d reserve ahead if you’re coming in high season). We were seated on the terrace—front-row seats to the most cinematic sunset over Ortigia, with boats drifting in the background and the sea stretching endlessly before us. The food? Let’s talk about that polpo. “Polpo doppia cottura su crema di patate” sounds poetic—and it is. Tender, rich, and the kind of dish you order as a secondo but secretly wish you could eat for every course. Then came the pasta: pistachio pesto and shelled clams swimming in a vibrant green sauce. Balanced, bright, and exactly what summer on a Sicilian rooftop should taste like. Service was very professional. We sat outside on the terrace, but there’s also refined indoor seating if the weather doesn’t play nice. We parked at Parcheggio Molo Sant’Antonio using EasyPark (about a 10-minute scenic walk along the lungomare) it’s large, easy, and feels like part of the experience. There may be closer options, but the stroll is worth it. Would I go again? In a heartbeat. And next time, I’m ordering dessert too.

My son and I came for my birthday dinner. Service was grand. We were dressed casually with no problem. The grouper fish and the veal were very good as well as the steamed shrimp. Drinks were ridiculously priced. $20 for a mojito and $26 for a suggested italian gin and tonic. The views are amazing.
