Looking for a restaurant that wasn't overcrowded, we decided on da Piero. There wasn't much going on yet so we were served straight away. My husband ate some fish soup and loved it.

Friendly and helpful staff in a location that I found very welcoming.
The dishes are very good, although I found the caponata, the restaurant's signature dish, a little too "flavoured" with sauce and hiding the flavors of the other ingredients.
The clam and mussel soup was good, but there was a lot of sand in some of the clams.
The pasta with sardines and fennel was delicious!
Price range around €30 per person!

A gennaio ad Ortigia regna la chiusura per ferie dei ristoratori. Questa taverna un pò retrò, nella centrale via Cavour è stata una sorprendente sorpresa. Gestito da famiglia di origini calabre, abbiamo mangiato veramente bene: fritto di calamari perfetto e due primi di pesce ottimi (un con ricci e "nascituri" particolarmente). Vino bianco sfuso, freddo e siculo meglio di altre bottiglie in vari ristoranti. Amari e acqua minerale. Personale gentile. Proprietario Juventino. Nella nostra gita di tre giorni è il posto dove abbiamo mangiato meglio. Prezzo 80 euro in due

Siamo stati a cena, dopo aver prenotato, in questa accogliente trattoria nel cuore di Ortigia, abbiamo provato una degustazione come antipasto, composta da alcuni crudi, una buona fritturina, una zuppetta di cozze e del pesce in agrodolce, tutto molto soddisfacente se pur con qualche imperfezione nella pulizia dei gamberi ma nulla di irrimediabile. Abbiamo proseguito con dei bigoli allo scoglio insieme agli involtini di spada, per concludere con una cassatina deliziosa. Tutto molto buono servito con cortesia e ad un prezzo giusto considerato dove ci troviamo.
