Overall, a decent experience, but with a few things to look at. The bread arrived practically at the end of the meal. I found the arrosticini to be rather bland and a bit undercooked, verging on rare; the same goes for the meat. I understand that some people prefer a lightly salted meal, but in that case, salt should be brought to the table. The owner (I think it was him) tried to crack a few jokes, but honestly, he wasn't particularly friendly.

The atmosphere is simple and familiar, as is the cuisine, with a few but excellent dishes. The price was a pleasant surprise!

This little restaurant is located in the historic center of Chieti and has long been a must-see for anyone wanting to sample traditional Abruzzo cuisine. The interior has a rustic feel with exposed brickwork, and I recommend booking as there aren't many tables. Excellent appetizers featuring local cured meats; try the famous cacio e ova (cheese and egg) balls. The first courses are all handmade, and I personally loved the mugnaia (a type of pasta) with mushrooms and truffle, but I especially loved the sagne e ceci (a type of pasta with chickpeas)...truly delicious! 😋 The mixed roast meats and the house red wine were also very good. I tried the arrosticini, but they didn't particularly impress me because they were too strong and lacked a lot of fat, which I think is needed to give them that extra flavor, but again, that's just my personal opinion. The portions are generous, and the owner is kind and helpful. The prices are super fair. The desserts are traditional Abruzzo classics, like pizzelle with Nutella and crostatas. Also try the gentian and ratafia as an after-dinner treat 😜 Recommended 👍🏻☺️

Arrosticini from Metro, spices from Eurospin, and cheese and egg balls that aren't homemade but industrial. Mediocre value and far from the authenticity of Abruzzo cuisine.
