A good place to eat pizza....fair price. Good quality....

The day we were there, they had a set menu with a choice of three first courses, two second courses, and two side dishes. There was no other option. The prices were very reasonable. The atmosphere was informal and popular with locals.

La Taverna di Castruccio is located on Via Pisana, a parallel road to the SS67 that runs from Scandicci to Florence. The restaurant directly overlooks the street, with a window that lets in natural light during the day. The atmosphere upon entering is that of a typical trattoria, with dark wood tables and chairs and paper placemats. It is simply furnished, with a few references to swords scattered throughout. The dining room isn't huge, so I recommend booking in advance. The tavern offers both an à la carte menu and wood-fired pizza. The menu is extensive, and I believe they have no problem accommodating vegetarian guests. We dined in mid-November, and some of our guests ordered pizza, while others ordered à la carte. We began with a pleasant Castruccio appetizer of cold cuts, cheeses, crostini, and fried foods accompanied by olives. Then came the pizzas and meat dishes, including the renowned Florentine steak. All the meats we ordered were excellent, tasty and succulent. To top it off, the desserts were also delicious. It's just a shame the chocolate cake was a little overcooked, but the flavor was truly excellent. The tavern is located on the first floor, and although there's a small sidewalk, entry should be easy, even for strollers and wheelchairs. There is no private, free parking reserved for guests, but there are street parking spaces in the adjacent streets.

An intimate venue with interesting historical details about Castruccio Castracani from the early 14th century. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable, and the food lives up to expectations. Excellent as both a pizzeria and a restaurant.

Great place to spend the right amount and eat well. The menu offers a great variety, from first courses to second courses, hamburgers, pizza (also available for lunch). The environment is small but nice, with a slightly spartan but nice decor. The pizza is excellent and very cheap. It offers the possibility of choosing a menu of abundant land or sea tastings. Excellent homemade desserts. Friendly and nice staff. Highly recommended.
