If you are anywhere in the Sabina, do not miss La Taverna Del Tiranno. This was one of the most memorable meals we’ve had in Italy. We started with the Jewish-style meatballs—rich, comforting, and full of flavor. One of the standout dishes was a green spaghetti with friarielli and Cantabrian anchovies, finished with something delicately crumbled on top—completely unique, incredibly flavorful, and unlike anything we’ve had before. The pizzas (Ramolaccia and “Tasty One”) were outstanding: perfectly cooked, creative, and packed with flavor. There were also plenty of thoughtful vegetarian and vegan options, and the vegetable medley we ordered was fresh, vibrant, and clearly prepared with care. Dessert sealed it—an exceptional tiramisu and a panna cotta with caramel that was silky and unforgettable. What truly sets this place apart is the service. It feels deeply personal, like every dish matters and every guest is genuinely welcomed. You can taste the passion in the food and feel it in the experience. Highly recommended.

On Sunday, April 12th, I celebrated my 60th birthday at Tiranno with 23 other guests. It was a positive experience right from the start, thanks to the atmosphere we found on the porch reserved for us. Spacious and open on one side, overlooking a well-kept garden, we found a long table that was comfortable. Soft background music and the kindness of the staff did the rest. I won't dwell on the food; I'll simply say that everything was delicious, starting with the abundant and fresh appetizer. The only downside was us, the customers, who were loud and festive. I highly recommend this place.

Easter lunch 2026. Very friendly wait staff (I assume the lady is the owner). Quiet place, perfect table settings, and unlimited drinks included in the menu. The dishes were well-cooked and very tasty. Thank you for your hospitality.

Absolutely perfect lunch. Impeccable service, excellent food, and kind and helpful staff. The ricotta and taleggio cheese hearts in pink sauce and prosciutto were delicious 🔝🔝🔝🔝

We had some delicious stringy supplì and delicious Ascoli olives. The only flaw was that it tasted too lemony, which ruined the whole experience. A shame! Pizza with good ingredients, especially the cooked and sautéed seasonal vegetables, was excellent! The pizza dough was good and light. The beer we tried was excellent!

An excellent last-minute find during a short stay in Sabina. A casual yet elegant location, attentive and friendly service, and a varied cuisine with interesting options for both meat-eaters and vegetarians. The cheese selection is excellent, as are the homemade fregnacce. Highly recommended.

Always a great experience here at Taverna del Tiranno: I've tried it on several occasions, especially for lunch during short trips out of the Sabine-Rieti area (for example, it's just minutes from Farfa Abbey and many other charming little villages worth visiting). Even during this latest offering—a Christmas lunch with family and relatives—Raniero, his partner, and their team proved to be an excellent team in charge of the dining room and kitchen, demonstrating courtesy, simplicity, friendliness, and that touch of rusticity and refinement that distinguishes them. The Christmas tasting menu was incredibly balanced in flavors and portions, allowing us to fully savor each dish and arrive at the coffee shop feeling happy, satisfied, and not weighed down. Kudos to the selection of local ingredients and the extensive and well-rounded wine cellar, offering local and Italian wines (with a few excursions beyond the Alps), with a special focus on small, artisanal and sustainable producers, including labels that will please natural wine lovers.
