Visited here for evening meal, arrived at 730, we were able to get a table for 2 straight away, it did fill up around 8 ish so get there early. Food and service were fantastic

We had pizza in the restaurant and we didn't have a better pizza in Rome. It was great and most importantly it was ready right away. We didn't have to wait at all and the Aperol was huge and had enough alcohol. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We're from around here and know Roman cuisine well, even though we live in Paris, so we're rarely impressed. Plus, I'm a chef, and by nature, I almost always find something to criticize. This time, however, I'm really struggling to find a flaw. La Taverna dei Quaranta won us over with its simple, authentic, and well-crafted Roman cuisine. Dishes without unnecessary complications, prepared with excellent ingredients, generous portions, and flavors reminiscent of true tradition. The quality is evident in every dish, and you can tell there's someone in the kitchen who truly knows their craft: kudos to the chef. Another big plus is that it's not your typical tourist trap. It's a true Roman trattoria, where you come to eat well, with excellent value and full respect for tradition. Special applause to the young woman who served us: smiling, kind, professional, and, above all, Roman. With her spontaneity, friendliness, and authenticity, she made lunch even more enjoyable. It's one of those places where you come in to eat and leave wanting more. If you're looking for authentic Roman cuisine, this is definitely worth a visit.

The pizzas are wood-fired and delicious. Fast and attentive service. Reasonable price.

I had the zucchini, lemon, and stracciatella pasta; it was excellent! I recommend this dish.

Delicious! It's a very cozy place and it's right next to the Colosseum. The cucumber pasta and the caponata were delicious, and they make excellent coffee. We liked it so much that we went back another day specifically to try more dishes from the menu.

We went for lunch one day because it's right next to the Colosseum, and we liked it so much we had to go back another day. Despite being in such a central location, the staff are locals, and the food and service are excellent. If we return to Rome, we'll definitely go back! 🫶

Average rating, taking into account the very good focaccia, meatballs in tomato sauce, and eggplant meatballs, as well as two inedible cacio e pepe dishes. The pasta had the typical consistency of precooked, overheated pasta that tends to harden, and the portions were very small. You might try to pass it off to foreign tourists, but not to an Italian. Even the gricia had the same consistency. Failed.
