Best place for lunch in Perugia!

I have been here 22 years ago. I still remember it!!! I wish i will come again sometime

I'd describe it more as a restaurant than a tavern. The staff were warm and welcoming, the atmosphere beautiful; Perugia is present even inside. The appetizer (warm hazelnut-crusted camembert) was very simple, good, but the combination with the chopped hazelnuts was predictable. The cheese was good quality; I would have expected more workmanship and more hazelnuts; they didn't stand out. I had the impression that the cheese had been reheated in a microwave, as had the potatoes in the second course, a guinea fowl stuffed with sausage (?) and wild herbs. I wasn't thrilled with the potatoes, which were floury, definitely reheated in the microwave (too hot compared to the rest of the dish), and had a less than pleasant flavor, like potato flakes or a hint of refrigerator. The vegetables that accompanied the dishes were good, however. The guinea fowl was well-cooked, perhaps overcooked, a bit dry. I appreciated the balance of the filling with nutmeg. Fast service and professional staff. Quality/price ratio in favor of the latter.

The atmosphere is warm and rustic, perfect for enjoying authentic traditional Umbrian cuisine. The dishes are prepared with genuine ingredients and expertly cooked: from homemade pasta to meat dishes, everything exudes tradition and passion. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always ready to offer advice. You can sense their love for their work, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. The selection of local wines is also excellent. A place where you eat well, feel good, and want to return. Highly recommended for those seeking authentic flavors and a sincere welcome!

Truly excellent food, not to mention the location and staff were simply fantastic. This is definitely a restaurant worth stopping at in Perugia; we ate really well!

We had a fantastic evening here. The staff was super friendly. It's pricey BUT it's worth it. Perfect place for a romantic dinner. Wine, food, desert. Just great. We didn't take a lot of pictures because we were focused on each other and the atmosphere.

I returned here for dinner with a group of friends, and it remains one of the best restaurants in the historic center. Perhaps I could improve the dessert menu, but otherwise, the quality of the dishes, the beautiful dining room, and the friendly staff are all positives.

With no reservations for a light Sunday lunch - our 12.30pm walkin secured a table near the front - felt fortunate to see the professional skill & care the maitre’d & staff took with all patrons… many were regulars. The cappelletti in brodo was flavorfull & delish; whilst the gnocchi cooked perfetto in ragu…. Wish we were regulars & not touristi.

Went every night for dinner during Umbria Jazz 2025. Food is still top quality, which is truly remarkable after so many years of success. Keep doing the good deeds folks! Service is attentive , courteous, you'll feel pampered and welcome welcome welcome, don't miss it when you are in Perugia. Thanks a million Nicoletta and the whole sparkling jazzy crew.

My guests and I enjoyed a great meal and fine dining experience at La Taverna. The dishes were appetizing and well-prepared. The wait staff was attentive and worked very hard to ensure that we were well taken care throughout the evening. In addition, the dining room was well-appointed and elegant. One can not go wrong dining at La Taverna.
