Extremely disappointed with La Scarpetta. The welcome, the service really not great, the waiter is not smiling, he advised us to take +2kg of Florentine steak for 4 people whereas for 1.6kg we had difficulty finishing although we are good eaters. I noticed that he pushes consumption because he did the same with 1 other customer! If you choose the Florentine steak, you will have to take at least 1.2kg (this is what is indicated on the menu) and also pay for the accompaniments (9€ for a small helping of grilled vegetables (2 slices of eggplant, 2 slices of peppers, 2 slices of zucchini), 6€ small frozen fries which seemed reheated). Positive point, the meat was tender and fortunately because €5.50 for 100 grams adds up quickly. Result of our experience, really not convincing, I think there are better restaurants to do in Firenze.

Walking outside the centre, excellent place, really friendly and nice staff, really good food (steak, roast potatoes, tiramisu all really excellent!! Wine recommended by the waiter, truly perfect pairing for our dinner!!) definitely worth returning and trying other dishes and highly recommended 🔝

Absolute gem of a place hidden in this run-down looking town. Very good price for high quality food. They really take their time making sure it is well-done!

had dinner there on our night of arrival. it is not the 'tourist' area so quiet dinner with the locals in the know. not many tables thus booking recommended especially in tourist season. great food. great service. well worth the price. more upmarket. note it is Cucina Toscana (Tuscan kitchen). authentic food with a chef's inspiration.

Cozy Little Restaurant Outside City Center We went to La Scarpetta for a light dinner, being vegetarian they had several items on the menu. We had the eggplant parmigiana and the cheeses with home made jams. Both were fantastic! Our waiter was so nice, we ended up chatting with him for a while. The cheesecake we had for dessert was amazing. Would highly recommend.

Fuimos a La Scarpetta para una cena ligera, siendo vegetarianos tenían varios elementos en el menú. Teníamos la parmigiana de berenjena y los quesos con mermeladas caseras. Ambos fueron fantásticos! Nuestro camarero era tan amable, que terminamos charlando con él por un tiempo. El pastel de queso que tuvimos de postre era increíble. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente.

09/02/2025: I have lived in Tuscany for 17 years now... without fear of contradiction I can say that the potato and lampredotto tortelli are among the best I have ever eaten at a super honest price in a family environment. perfect break two minutes from leaving Barberino well done! keep it up!

Borgo San Jacopo

16/03/2025: We chose Borgo San Jacopo as a fine dining restaurant during our trip to Florence, after careful choice, and we did not regret it. We trusted the reviews that promised an unforgettable experience and the dishes, from first to last, confirmed what they said online and that Michelin star. I opted for the vegetarian menu which was created to perfection. It's difficult to choose a better dish because they were all excellent but the risotto with mozzarella and capers and the pasta with chickpeas will certainly retain a place in my heart. But everything from the amuse bouche to the dessert was flawless. A surprising note is the Florentine baba, a baba soaked in alchermes that made me overcome the trauma of the alchermes cakes that were so popular in Italy in the nineties, making me think that I would even eat two of them (not on the same day however, at the end of the meal I was decidedly full). To crown it all, a fantastic service, attentive but not intrusive, polite but never fake and excessively formal, all the waiters were excellent and Nicola made us feel perfectly at ease from the moment we set foot in the restaurant. If we ever pass through Florence again, we will be back to see how the menu has changed!

I would particularly highlight an intermediate course with turbot and perhaps the main course with suckling pig (with an avant-garde-touch in its composition) which I found outstanding.
