La Posteria In Varese

The location, we know, is beautiful, we're in the heart of Varese. The dishes are very good (except for the desserts), which lowers the rating. The kitchen closes at 10 pm, so one of our guests is left without a second course (we could have been warned). In any case, I find it embarrassing on a Saturday night. The waiters are very friendly, except for the manager, who never makes his customers feel comfortable. (But that's well known.) It has all the credentials to be among the city's top five, but it needs work. In any case, it's definitely worth a visit.

It's a perfect choice for a romantic dinner in the center of Varese: the atmosphere is elegant and refined, with the option of dining in the internal courtyard/garden when the weather permits. The experience focuses on quality over quantity; the menu isn't particularly long, but the dishes are beautifully presented, the quality is undeniably superior, and the staff is very discreet and elegant. There's also a touch of originality, with dishes often revisited with unique and extremely fresh ingredients. The location is very central, and the restaurant has multiple rooms on multiple levels, including an outdoor area within a private courtyard. The place is very quiet, the tables are well spaced, and the service is quick and attentive. Recommended.

I went with two friends to the Alla Posteria restaurant in Varese with average expectations, and unfortunately, they remained so. The restaurant is average, with no particular distinguishing features. The staff is friendly and helpful, nothing to complain about in that regard. The food, however, is average: decent, but nothing memorable, especially considering the final bill of €190 (two platters and three main courses). The truly disappointing part came at the end of the meal. Jokingly, I asked, "Excuse me, isn't there anything on the house?" I was told, rather coldly, that the management doesn't offer anything because it's a "rule" of the restaurant. Beyond the offer itself—which is certainly not mandatory—what leaves a bitter taste in the mouth is the rigidity and total lack of even a small gesture of courtesy after a large expense. Sometimes, it takes very little to make a customer feel appreciated. It's a shame, because the overall experience wasn't negative, but this closure left a feeling of sadness. We didn't leave a tip...it was our "rule." Personally, I don't think I'll be back.

Restaurant in a charming courtyard in the Varese nightlife district. The atmosphere is elegant and informal, with a limited but well-prepared menu. We tried the poached egg in creamed potatoes and Jerusalem artichoke, and the braised cheek for our main course (I would have preferred it overcooked...personal taste), accompanied by a good Nebbiolo. The staff is young and very professional. Prices are slightly higher than what's offered, but fairly in line with mid- to high-end restaurants in the city center.

Another restaurant worthy of the "Assemblage Kitchens" guide, and not even with quality ingredients. The risotto? Cloying. Never again.

Sunday lunch with my partner. We stumbled upon this lovely restaurant in a courtyard. The ambiance is sophisticated, and the menu is tempting. Inside, the atmosphere is simple yet warm and welcoming. The staff is incredibly kind and welcoming. The food is excellent! The risotto with ossobuco is one of the best I've ever had. My partner thinks the tripe with polenta deserves praise from the kitchen. How I love it when the chef and the dining room staff know their stuff and the cashier is happy! Well done! We'll be back!
