We had ribbon pasta with salmon and asparagus, the house special. The red wine was also very tasty. All in all, we had a lovely meal with a fantastic view. The service was attentive and friendly. The price-performance ratio was good. Of course, you're paying for the location, but it was worth it overall. We would definitely eat there again. Especially since they serve hot food all day, which isn't always a given in Merano on a weekday after 2 pm.

I celebrated my birthday here. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, and the staff was very warm and welcoming. I highly recommend this place. We really enjoyed it. And we highly recommend it.

Kohlern

06/01/2026: We had a truly wonderful time staying at Gasthof Kohlern. The fresh, high-quality (often locally-sourced) food and the hospitality were our favorite parts. The waitstaff showed upmost professionalism but also a relaxed kindness that made us feel really at home. We hope to come back!
03/11/2025: Five stars are not enough to rate this place. Staying there was an eleven-star experience! Everything in Gasthof Kohlern invites you to slowly appreciate the beauty of life: the natural environment, with an amazing view of the surrounding mountains; the cuisine, with delicious and refined dishes, the wines, the breakfasts; the simple elegance of the rooms; the peace and quiet; and last but not least, the generous and considerate kindness of the staff. Viele Dank: you make this place a perfect combination of charming and soothing.

19/01/2026: I have been here more than 20 times, but I won’t be coming back anymore. The arrogance keeps growing, while everything else is declining. I used to enthusiastically recommend this place to others — not anymore. When you charge these prices, the whole experience matters. During my last visit, the turbot — a fish that is both expensive and deserving of respect — was literally torn apart and carelessly placed on the plate. It was served cold. Sadly, once a top destination, it now feels like a place you simply pass by.
16/01/2026: Oddly amazing and high-quality fish. Very tasty dishes and coffee. Beware this place is quite pricy though
