It's rare to find places like this. We used to go there often when I had a house in the Aosta Valley (about 10-15 years ago), and since it's on the road from Milan, we'd stop here every now and then. Well, today (September 8, 2025), we went and found exactly the same courtesy and quality as before. For those who don't know, Marenda Sinoira is a Piedmontese tradition (for more information, look it up). The restaurant also serves first and second courses, but their forte is the appetizers (like tapas or pinchos). Three or four of these small dishes per person will fill you up; you can share them. If you don't like one (impossible), you have something else to try and then finish with a dessert or a sweet fried dish. I've attached photos of the dishes, some taken after we've already started eating—we couldn't resist.) The presentation is also very thoughtful and appetizing.

The trattoria is located about a 15-minute drive from Settimo Vittone, in a tiny hamlet with a few houses overlooking the valley floor. It has tables both inside and outside under two airy verandas, sheltered from the sun. We enjoyed a selection of carefully selected hot and cold appetizers, finishing with the sweet fritto misto. The typical chestnuts cooked in butter and honey and the chestnut sauce on Alba-style meat are particularly noteworthy. Overall, it's a quiet spot for a refreshing lunch or dinner, even without air conditioning. I'd like to close with a couple of tips: first, call ahead to confirm availability. Second, if you'd like to sample the appetizers and finish with the fritto misto, order a course for two, excluding any dishes your partner doesn't like. Otherwise, you risk missing out.

Discovered by word of mouth, this restaurant really struck me. Besides the delicious and simple food, I was also intrigued by the menu. It can be described as a Piedmontese tapas restaurant, with small, delicious bites to share to discover the local specialties. The staff is very friendly, and the wine cellar is fabulous. Located on a hill, it's the perfect place to enjoy some cool air while enjoying good food. The BEST 😋👍

A bit on the hilltop but there's parking in front, tables inside and outside, well-kept even if the target is more of a tavern... really brilliant to offer on the menu so many different types of appetizers at a reasonable price so everyone can create their own appetizer dish... typical Piedmontese cuisine well executed and comforting... ranging from tomini to veal with tuna sauce, cured meats, salads, ravioli, fried bunets, desserts, etc.... also special are the green tagliatelle with flowers

Prenotiamo la mattina per il pranzo di ritorno dalla valle d'Aosta. Personale gentilissimo, cantina dei vini infinita con prezzi per tutte le tasche. Rapporto qualità prezzo dei piatti ottimo.
