There are lots of places to eat in San Gimignano, with a mix of touristy spots on the main streets. But head to the top of the town and turn off the main drag and you'll find La Mangiatoia tucked away round a quiet corner serving good quality Tuscan food for a fair price. Nice service by the owners and staff. Highly recommend. We had 2 pasta dishes and they were both excellent.

Characteristic restaurant that offers a menu with typical local dishes.
Careful and quality food accompanied by an excellent house wine that we tasted both white and red.
Intimate environment, not very big and for this reason we recommend booking.
Excellent experience that we will definitely repeat.

This place is located in a quiet alley of the old town. It is run by members of the original founding family, whom with their attention to detail, their attitude, and a passion for their food, will leave great and savory impact to your visit.
Their food is excellent, meticulously crafted, well portioned, and honoring all the traditional cooking ways. You’ll want to return (my husband and I actually DID! we had dinner here two consecutive nights…)
Bistecca Fiorentina is a must!
Be certain to book dinner, or at least a quick antipasti with good wine.

It is a very welcoming place! They attend very quickly and you feel at home. Very elaborate cuisine and handmade pasta and top quality ingredients. We tried these pasta dishes. We will be back for sure!!

The truffle carbonara was good but lacked some of the intense flavor I would expect from this dish given the presence of pecorino and bacon. The gorgonzola flan on the other hand was exactly what I expected when ordering a gorgonzola flan. Compliments to the chef who has worked there since 1982.
