The place is very nice, although with the outdoor tables, you definitely need to buy a lot of coffee. The food is delicious: we had an exceptional eggplant parmigiana and an excellent calzone. Even the fried foods were well cooked and crispy. The only downside is the macchiato coffee 😜 if it's hot... you need foam, otherwise it's a mini latte macchiato.

It's a shame I can't give 10 stars!
I went to this inn for lunch at my daughter's recommendation after seeing some reels on social media.
My suspicions melted away as soon as I stepped foot in the dining room.
You're immediately greeted warmly by the owner and her daughter.
She knows how to pamper a guest, as well as being incredibly kind and friendly.
Everything I tasted was simply EXCELLENT, even the "special" treats the owner keeps in reserve to soothe her guests' palates.
A very charming inn with old-fashioned ovens inside, where bread with an overwhelming flavor comes out, ample outdoor space, and parking adjacent to the entrance.

Following Via Collatina Vecchia from Via Grotta di Gregna, after 200 meters, in a widening on the left, we find a beautiful farmhouse, which, in addition to the historic wood-fired oven, also houses the "La Locanda del Fornaio" restaurant.
We are in the heart of what was once the Campagna di Roma Est (East Rome Countryside), where, instead of the many cars that travel through it today, you would encounter sheep being herded out to pasture by shepherds.
It's a charming place, with its ancient charm, just as this ancient farmhouse is equally charming.
From the moment we enter, we realize what we're about to discover.
As you enter the front door, you'll find the wood-fired oven on the right. By the way, before you leave, don't forget to grab a whole-grain loaf—it's an experience you absolutely must try. In front is the counter with the Fornaio's pastries, and in the center is the corridor leading to the main hall, where you can admire the exquisite restoration work that has successfully combined the ancient and the modern in unique harmony.
But it doesn't end there. Beyond the glass wall of the hall is the large outdoor area, where in the summer you can dine and discover a touch of antiquity thanks to the presence of a surface section of the ancient Roman Aqueduct, still in operation as it powers some of Rome's fountains.
In addition to the wonderful charm of the place—let's not forget that we came to eat—another pleasant surprise is the menu, which offers a wide selection, from splendid wood-fired pizzas, fried foods, cured meats, and grilled vegetables to traditional Roman first and second courses, and finally, let's leave room for the exquisite desserts from the Fornaio.
All made with top-quality ingredients and served with passion and professionalism by the restaurant staff.
A word of advice: share this experience with the people you care about; you'll have a delightful and enjoyable evening.

There were five of us for dinner, and we ordered potato chips, supplì, carbonara, cacio e pepe, gricia, gnocchi della locanda, cod, and wine donuts. Everything was excellent, made with high-quality ingredients.
I had the gnocchi with gorgonzola and blueberry, which I found very interesting. My only suggestion is to slightly reduce the amount of blueberry reduction; the contrast between the ingredients is pleasant, but it tends to overwhelm the flavor of the gorgonzola. The portions are generous, and their handmade pasta was truly delicious. Special mention goes to the staff: they're young, kind, welcoming, and super helpful. One girl even apologized for the wait, even though we'd only waited about 15 minutes since our appetizer. Also, when my uncle went to pay, he was given a whole loaf of bread as a gift, a much-appreciated gesture. We'll definitely be back!

I was at this restaurant on a Sunday for lunch. The fresh egg pasta was excellent, as per Roman tradition. The beef tagliata was excellent, with tender and flavorful meat. The desserts were homemade, but especially the tiramisu, made to order.
I will definitely be back.
