La Grotta Guelfa In Firenze

Spent a week in Florence and this is still our favorite restaurant ! The quality of the food is excellent and it’s very authentic. If you like chicken liver I really recommend the Polentine fritte con fegatini (fried polenta with chicken liver plate). It’s nothing like I’ve tasted before :)

The food was excellent, the meatballs were great and the tagiatelle truffles were WONDERFUL.

Food, atmosphere, service, all three were excellent. I am very grateful to Amy who was kind despite her awkward English and Italian. I would like to come back again next time.

Beautiful set up and of course best service with delicious food - the best in Florence THE REVIEW ABOVE WAS MADE IN JUNE 2024. MOVE FORWARD: July 2025 the 9th; we came again because last year’s experience. I so sorry to say that they have changed a lot in one year. 🥹 Short of staff : according to our server. Service was not like last year. Meat that we ordered last year not so good as before. Reason: from spain 🇪🇸. The one we had last year from croatia 🇭🇷. Meat not good. Service not good. We have to wait for dessert for the server to ask. But it was too late and we said no. Of course he was nice to offer us something (limoncello) but we were so disappointed and we left. NOT RECOMMENDED ANYMORE. 👎

Absolutely outstanding experience! The lobster pasta, ribollita soup, beef tartare, and grilled salmon were all out of this world — each dish perfectly balanced and bursting with flavor. We followed the waiter’s wine recommendation and it matched beautifully with everything we ordered. The place itself is slightly off the beaten path, which only adds to its charm — calm, atmospheric, and distinctly Tuscan in its style and spirit. Highly recommended — a true hidden gem in Tuscany!

Our experience at La Grotta Guelfa was nothing short of an invitation to return. A charming and beautiful setting, attentive and swift service — but above all, the true highlight lies in the spectacular cuisine, which brings to life all the flavors one dreams of when imagining Florence. We began with a bruschetta and a Greek salad, both delicious, but the centerpiece of the meal was undoubtedly the bistecca alla fiorentina, cooked to perfection. As it wasn't my first time enjoying this dish, I asked for it to be served “rosa,” knowing that here it is often brought quite rare. It was sensational. You can truly savor the aged depth of flavor, especially in the cuts near the bone. It is, without question, an experience worth having. Thank you for the beautiful evening you offered us. The space is pleasant and beautiful, the service is friendly and prompt, but the main thing is the spectacular food, with all the contours that imagination paints of Florence. We ordered bruschetta and a Greek salad as starters, but the highlight must be the Florentine steak, which was perfect. Since it wasn't my first time eating it, I ordered the "pink tip" because here they usually serve it very raw. Sensational. The hints of aging are palpable, especially in the pieces that touch the bone. Definitely worth the experience. Thank you for the beautiful scene you provided us.

The service was good! The locations is good! The food was very refreshing and good and made to perfection! Lots of traditional Tuscan food and the salads and cheeses were amazing! I would recommend! Thank you for the great service! Enjoy

We celebrated a friend's birthday in Florence and for the occasion we booked a table at this restaurant and we had a great time... Kind and courteous staff, excellent food, we ate excellent Florentine steaks recommended and served by the very kind and knowledgeable Marika. Una domenica a pranzo, si è preso due primi , molto buoni con sapori piacevoli e ottima cottura della pasta e due secondi di carne davvero di qualità. Personale accogliente e sorridente Appena possibile ci ritorneremo.
