A simple and charming place to taste prosciutto. We asked for a tasting. The prosciutto is sliced very thinly compared to the ones from central Italy. It was accompanied by tasty artichokes and cherry tomatoes, along with mozzarella from Campania and excellent bread. The owner honored us with a tour of the cellar where he keeps the prosciutto. Ask to taste a local liqueur as well.

That's where it actually comes from. The famous San Daniele ham. Of course, this is one of many farms, but it's a particularly nice one. The owner treated us to a small tasting, proudly showed us his curing room, and offered to ship all of his products to Germany without any hassle. Incidentally, there are hardly any pigs in all of Friuli. They're brought from Parma, exactly where Parma ham comes from. So the hams aren't all that different after all.

We stumbled upon it by chance, after being passed around by various ham producers (our fault, as we hadn't booked a visit).
The owner was extremely kind and welcomed us warmly, like a good host.
When we arrived at the ham tasting, a whole new world opened up... Artisanally crafted ham, and the craftsmanship of those who produce it is evident.
Probably the best I've ever eaten, sweet and melting with a delicate yet persistent flavor. A true masterpiece.
The lard, which we tried accompanied by pickled vegetables, mozzarella, and breadsticks, was also excellent. It was all washed down with an excellent Ribolla.
We decided to have the ham shipped, as we didn't have a refrigerator. The visit to the aging department was brief but truly interesting.
I honestly don't understand the negative reviews because of the price. Anyone who doesn't understand the difference between artisanal and industrial prosciutto (including the cost difference) deserves the tray-packed prosciutto from the supermarket...
Long live Italian excellence, especially small businesses like this one.

We were welcomed into this small restaurant where they served a sampling of their own San Daniele ham with vegetables and breadsticks. Everything was delicious!
Then the manager even took us to the aging room, and it smelled amazing!
A wonderful experience, definitely worth it for the quality of the products and the service. 😊

The tasting was excellent, but I recommend the owner inform the customer of the cost and, above all, ask if they want a glass or a whole bottle. Our entire bottle was left on the table, a waste!
