The original sanctuary is still beautiful and evocative. Unfortunately, they moved Saint Pio from his cell to the large church, which, alas, is too opulent and not in keeping with the vision of Padre Pio of Pietralcina.

Beautiful but I give 3 stars because it is not suitable for Padre Pio, a monk who took the oath of poverty, not even in Assisi have I seen such a sumptuous square and church with gold and mosaics (very beautiful) but it is not suitable for Padre Pio

An experience not to be missed. A truly beautiful church, capable of transmitting peace and spirituality from the very first moment. The atmosphere is moving and invites prayer and reflection. It is a place absolutely worth a visit, both for its beauty and its great spiritual value. Highly recommended to anyone near San Giovanni Rotondo.

Truly enchanting place. We were on vacation in Vieste, about an hour away, so we took advantage of the opportunity and went there.
The entire sanctuary is beautiful, both the old and the new, the mosaics in the church, the Stations of the Cross.
The village itself didn't particularly impress us; we've seen many more beautiful ones in Puglia.
If you're a devout person, it's impossible not to stop by.
