La Contea In Modica

I've been to Pizzeria Ristorante La Contea, a true institution in Modica, and the experience was decidedly positive. The pizza is good, and you can taste the quality of the ingredients used. The rest of the menu is also of a good standard, with well-prepared and carefully prepared dishes. The prices are average, but absolutely fair for what's offered. The service is good: courteous and helpful staff, attentive to customer needs and always ready to accommodate any request. The only downside is the lack of WiFi inside the restaurant; if you have a phone provider with poor coverage, you risk being completely cut off. However, the owners assured me that this is under construction, so it will probably be fixed soon. Overall, a place I definitely recommend 👍

Visited Modica in Dec 2025 and family living here brought us for dinner...It was amazing! The restaurant has delicious local dishes and Italian classics. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable of the entrees, and very professional. It was an enjoyable experience with wonderful food & the lamb chops were perfect!

We’ve been there twice so far and were very happy both times. The restaurant is nicely tucked away on a side street, yet right in the very centre. The food is delicious and the service is quick and friendly. We tried the octopus with guacamole, pasta with mushrooms and guanciale, grilled vegetables, mixed grilled meat, and of course two different pizzas — all excellent! The décor isn’t particularly impressive, but it’s simple and welcoming — and in a restaurant, it’s really the good food and friendly atmosphere that matter more than fancy decorations.

This authentic Italian restaurant and pizzeria is located in a back alley and seems to have been around for a long time. We recommend the seafood pizza La Contea and the daily special pasta. Open from 7pm (may vary depending on the season).
