Refined cuisine and quality products. The lamb was cooked excellently but the flavor was a bit anonymous. The desserts are very good. Spaces between tables a little narrow.

Between the fog and the steep hills, drizzling rises…
And in the heart of the historic center of Boccheggiano you discover a small but charming inn, selected among the best taverns of 2025.
The location, cozy and well-kept, offers an internal room with a few tables during the winter. With the arrival of the summer, as the owner told us, tables are also set up outside.
Intrigued by the posts on social media and the young age of chef Duccio Frullani, we decided to treat ourselves to a Sunday lunch in this corner of Maremma.
Let's go…
• Welcome entrée (unexpected): squid ink crackers in the shape of a fish, with anchovy butter and lemon zest. Beautiful to look at and delicious to taste.
• First courses:
• Spaghetti Martelli with Montieri saffron, sour butter and Chianina ossobuco sauce: creamy, delicate, harmonious... like a shoe. It's really worth the trip.
• Pappardelle with wild boar: perfect execution, on the podium among the best first courses with wild boar ever tasted.
• Second courses:
• Leg of pork with grilled endive: soft and tasty.
• Duck breast with plum and coffee BBQ sauce, bitter orange emulsion and grilled carrots: cooked by the book and the right portion.
• Sweets:
• Chocolate cigar with coffee ganache and rum ice cream: it was almost a shame to have to eat it, it was so good.
• Lemon tarte: MAMMA MIA!
We accompanied everything with a Babone 2022 from Roccastrada, a red with pleasant hints of liquorice.
The service was friendly and attentive, never intrusive. The owner was very helpful, answering our questions and curiosities with enthusiasm.
Fair account in relation to the quality of the raw materials and the service offered.
An experience that we would like to recommend.
In conclusion, Ciottolona is a pleasant discovery, capable of combining tradition and creativity with balance and passion. Chef Duccio Frullani's cuisine tells the story of the territory with technique and taste, while the intimate atmosphere and friendly service complete the experience.
A place that certainly deserves a visit - or even more than one - for those who love good food and authentic places.
We felt pampered... and we are already ready to return.

Veramente superiore alle aspettative! Menù mare/terra veramente interessante con rivisitazioni mai invasive e un armonia di sapori veramente gustosi. Vini molto legati, giustamente, al territorio ma non mancano bollicine di alto livello. Servizio attento .Prezzo onesto per la materia prima offerta! Ricordate di prenotare e, unica. nota negativa ,è il parcheggio....veramente difficile trovarlo nelle vicinanze. Lo consiglio sicuramente

I had dinner at Ciottolona, intrigued by the menu proposal and I must say that every expectation was respected, as the dishes chosen were excellent! The environment is very welcoming and the service impeccable. The wine selection is also non-trivial, with attention to our magnificent territory. Well done!

Dopo aver saputo che Duccio Frullani è stato premiato come miglior giovane chef da Slow Food Italia , insieme con amici abbiamo cenato a questo ristorante. Sicuramente una bellissima esperienza da riprovare , ottimi piatti serviti con cura ed attenzione . Le due chiacchere finali con Duccio sono la ciliegina sulla torta !

Not the usual Tuscan cuisine: an exceptional menu that combines classic dishes, such as pappardelle with wild boar, with particular and refined proposals. I tried the spaghetti with saffron and ossobuco and the duck breast, both excellent, but the menu could change. What is perhaps missing is a broader range of vegetable dishes or side dishes. Wide choice of local and non-local wines.

Recommended by friends, we went for lunch on a Saturday after having booked.
Really very good dishes and very well presented.
Fantastic dish of the day, tagliolini with sage with chicken livers and onion sauce.
Nice atmosphere, fast service and courteous and helpful wait staff.
Reservation recommended.
