The drinks are excellent, and this is coming from someone who is very demanding: I'm the customer who always asks for changes in the cocktails! Very nice location, fair prices!

La Casetta a Monti is a small piece of medieval history inserted in the historic center of Rome, Rione I (Monti) in Via della Madonna dei Monti, not far from the iconic Colosseum.
This review delves into the historical aspect of the place, rather than the activity that currently takes place there.
This ancient house (I also saw it in a drawing from 1759), which survived demolitions and various urban transformations, is very evocative due to its peculiarity, a silent witness to a bygone era.
It is characterized by two peculiarities that are very rare in the city, the first is that it is located in the middle of the street almost a challenge to modern architectural conventions, the second is that its façade is completely covered by a blanket of ivy, except for the two entrances on the ground floor and the two windows on the first floor, all of which gives it an almost fairy-tale appearance.
For several years it has become a small bistro where you find yourself in an intimate and welcoming environment, sought after by those who love sweets and therefore a good breakfast, but also a lunch or a cocktail. I haven't been there for a few years but I promise to return.
If you enjoyed reading this, I invite you to discover my other reviews. If what you read was useful and pleasant for you, I invite you to read my other reviews. This place is also part of a journey through the details that make the soul of the Eternal City unique.

Definitely a symbolic place in Monti, right in the heart. But alas I was surprised when I paid the bill. 1 drink and 1 shot 20 euros.
Really too much if we think that the seating is limited if not non-existent and one remains standing and in the cold.

We stumbled upon this little place and stopped in for a cocktail. The bar tender was a lovely great, even talking us a taxi after we had enjoyed our Espresso Martinis.
Nice cocktails, atmosphere and staff.

Really brilliant! The charm of the outside, the top drinks - the Popcorn Sour is highly recommended! Go there even if it costs a euro more ;)

The evolution of a little place that certainly has its fortune in its location (the heart of Monti), in its location (a small sky-earth building that once had a workshop if I remember correctly) and in its particularity (a wall completely covered in greenery which is embellished at night with a cascade of lights). A mix that in itself would be enough but if things don't work as they should, it's not even enough. I honestly remember him being famous for his fantastic breakfasts, especially those for foreigners, very varied but also very accurate which delighted those who were not used to the classic croissant and cappuccino but found a corner of home in these morning starts. In particular I remember that everything was small in size but very well presented and tasteful (excellent pancakes). Now I don't know if it's the renewed management or a different business choice but it seems to me that the vocation has turned towards drinks and evening aperitifs, a trend that is now common among young people and that tourists like. Everything is small in a small space but this too is a hallmark of the place where you have always been cramped and have never stuffed yourself but always in the name of moderation, taste, no crowds, no micro. I have to say that the only thing that seems to have increased is the price level (it's not a cheap place) but that's okay given the average level and the area involved. I only tasted a cocktail which if I remember correctly is one of their most famous, forbidden fruit, and I didn't mind it (I'm a teetotaler, don't hold me against it) while the coffee remained the same as it used to be. I liked it before and I still like it now, even though I'm not one of their customers: I feel like recommending it because the location is very, very particular and suggestive and this is no small detail. A stone's throw from the Colosseum. Useful info? Then leave a like and look at the other reviews made on Rome and beyond.
