30/04/2025: A journey into the authentic flavors of the Maremma
After a walk on the walls of Magliano in Toscana, we stopped at Osteria La Poventa with the desire to taste good grilled meat, a local wine and the refined simplicity of Tuscan cuisine.
Federico, the innkeeper, guided us with competence and passion in the choice: a tender and tasty cut of Podolian veal, cooked to perfection and accompanied by vegetables from the garden. A dish that alone is worth the trip. All combined with the red “Le Sughere di Frassinello” from the Rocca di Frassinello winery: intense, elegant, perfect.
The next day we returned to discover the rest of the menu, and this time too we were enthusiastic. Starters of local Cinta Senese ham and pâté with pears, accompanied by excellent vinsanto, followed by pici with roe deer and maltagliati with wild boar: authentic, balanced and full of character dishes. The choice of Ansonica from Fattoria di Magliano, proposed by Federico, was also excellent.
At Poventa you can find the excellence of the Maremma area, cooked with skill and respect for tradition. Finally, the desserts are a pleasant surprise: original reinterpretations of peasant cuisine that end the meal with elegance.
In summary, La Poventa is not just a tavern: it is a journey into the true flavors of the Maremma, guided by the careful hand of those who deeply love their territory.

22/04/2025: Cozy place, friendly staff. It's a shame about the grilled fillets which at the other tables were served in the classic tall and whole version, while our two thin ones were served in the cut steak version.
