La Cantinetta In Carpi

Discovered by chance, they seated us for lunch even though it was almost closing time, with our dog in tow, so definitely a plus for the hospitality and helpfulness. The place is very nicely presented, with a quiet and discreetly elegant atmosphere. The appetizer was gnocco, with a small flaw: the fried gnocco was slightly greasy, but that may have been because it was made just for us on the spot. The quality of the dough was nothing to complain about, very light and tasty, so I don't consider it to have influenced the overall rating of the food; moreover, the accompanying prosciutto was of remarkable quality. The first courses were truly exceptional: very flavorful cappelletti in broth, presented in a cup, and lasagna with fresh pasta was truly delicious and well-balanced. The portions are generous. The prices are absolutely reasonable. We'll definitely return.

The pumpkin tortelli were excellent. The porcini mushroom caps were a bit dry and could have been seasoned better. Lunch was somewhat disrupted by the couple at the next table who got into a heated argument. The waiters' service was quick and friendly.

As an average Italian, I found this place based on the reviews. Alas, I'm one who needs confirmation from other users before entering a place. So I decided to give it a try. They seated me and immediately brought me several types of bread, delicious, and water. I asked for a glass of wine and let them decide. I'm a lover of good wine, but at other people's homes, I'm easily persuaded. I ordered tortelli verdi with butter and sage, out of this world, and a beef tartare, excellent. Convinced I'd eaten divinely, I booked for the evening as well. I was 10 minutes late, but they compensated me with a 40-minute wait for the first course. I didn't bat an eyelid. It's that kind of wait that justifies good food. The wait was filled with a lovely chat with two charming gentlemen, a husband and wife, both "only" 80 years old, and a small dog, also funny. An 8-year-old Jack Russell. I named him Jack. But they immediately told me his name was Gin and he lived on Via Spinelli. A drunk, drug-addled dog. A joke that immediately inspired me to continue the conversation. We talked for an hour and a half nonstop, so much to talk about, so much life. Wonderful people. Why this premise? Because behind every successful restaurant there's always a secret. In this restaurant, the secret is love for one's work and being the daughter of two parents like that. Yes, they were the parents of the lady who welcomed me both morning and evening. I'll find out that the lady's husband also works there. But enough chit-chat, the evening's dishes were cappelletti al brodo, 10+, and fried porcini mushrooms, 11+, and another glass of good wine, again strictly recommended by the lady. I left still satisfied. A place that smells of home and love. Tomorrow I'll be there again. If you pass by Carpi, the Cantinetta is a place worth trying. Thank you.

A lovely experience in this charming restaurant with the Carpi Cathedral in the background. We had the erbazzone flan, delicious, and the gratin artichokes, another delicious dish, not to mention the pappardelle with a tasty sauce, delicious, delicious, delicious. Bravo to the chef...

Un ristorante in centro a Carpi che, oltre per la qualità del cibo, si è distinto per la cortesia e la disponibilità nel servizio. Alla ricerca della cucina locale, abbiamo assaggiato gli ottimi cappelletti in brodo e i tortelli verdi; non manca una presenza mantovana, con lo scrigno di erbazzone, veramente speciale e un lambrusco, per noi preferibile a quello modenese. Dolce finale la torta Barozzi e mascarpone. Quando si esce soddisfatti del cibo, del servizio e del conto, direi che il locale si può tranquillamente consigliare.
