Ci siamo fermati qua visto che la nostra prima scelta era chiusa per ferie. Locale carino vicino alla piazza centrale e al Castello. Abbiamo preso una tartare e una burrata.

Beautiful, convenient location, in the center of the center of Carpi and you couldn't do more. You can eat both outside and inside in a structure that extends and is divided into several rooms, with a modern and simple style where you are comfortable and relaxed. The only flaw is the toilets which leave a lot to be desired. The menu is complete, from starters to desserts it ranges from a good selection of dishes for each course, with fair prices. The wine list is really extensive and the wine in the glass was finally of good quality and well preserved. However, more needs to be done regarding the final quality of our dinner and the service: the bread which is not exactly fresh and of high quality (they are anonymous sandwiches) is served in containers which are not very nice to look at; the fish first course, off the menu, had almost no fish in it and was not exactly cheap; the meat was delicious but the potato side dish was a little dry and slightly salty. The baked porcini mushrooms, served on a bed of salad, not exactly the best presentation, but they were good all things considered. Service a little slow and uncommunicative, although always kind and polite. It may have been a bad evening and that's okay, but from such a nice place you expect more and I will definitely come back to try again, but the feeling it leaves is that there is a lack of attention to detail and that pinch of attention that make true difference.

The scenery that opens up near this place located in the beating heart of a sober Carpi, apparently silent yet lively, is evocative.
Location with an enviable position, close to the imposing façade of the Renaissance Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta.
The Basilica acts as the stage for the majestic Piazza dei Martiri which is very reminiscent in size of the eternal baroque Piazza Navona in Rome.
La Cantinetta, the most appropriate title, has all the characteristics of a tavern/bistro. The warm and welcoming atmosphere that you breathe at dusk, especially outside, is captivating and lends itself well to fleeting stops, friendly encounters but also to romantic dinners.
Essential, but not bare, mise en place (so popular in recent years). Taste and sobriety highlight a feminine touch, even in the choice of tableware.
Tables sufficiently spaced, privacy protected to the minimum.
The cuisine is surprising and highlights competence and creativity. Excellent raw materials. A menu that carefully follows the Emilian tradition, although appreciable traces highlight openings to - revisited - dishes that interest other territories such as Tuscia or Lazio.
Superb fried dumpling: a mix of simplicity, softness and fragrance. Light, delicate and well balanced in the uses of fats; not least the quality of the raw meat that accompanied the course.
Excellent tortelli with herbs, butter and sage: perfect for cooking, just enough al dente to enhance the freshness of the dough. The filling is exquisite, the presence of mature Parmigiano Reggiano (34 months?) is unmistakable;
Dessert follows the trend: a sort of dark chocolate cake, with a dry dough accompanied by a more apt albeit "atypical" mascarpone cream (composed of a mix of egg yolks and sugar) whose lightness and delicacy it harmonized everything.
The selection of labels is excellent and covers much of the national territory, with particular attention to Piedmont, Tuscany, Friuli, Veneto and the inevitable Emilia.
Large, well-considered, medium/high wine list.
The markup is honest.
Service in tune with the context. Alert, polite, at times friendly but never intrusive. Impeccable.
Average bill: €30.00 p.p. (drinks excl.).
Q/P largely adequate.
Overall, the choice to open up to other "classics" of the local tradition proved to be a winning one.
The wine list is excellent for balance.
Tradition/modernity, simplicity/taste are well combined.
Harmony fully found.
Pleasant experience.
Recommended site.
You deserve five stars.

.... nice, quiet environment, the small room almost has a somewhat romantic sense for a couple.... ate 2 starters and 2 first courses which were really very good, for the quality of the food, for being in front of the Duomo, the price it's right.... we'll definitely go back

I have been there several times and every time I have to eat in Carpi this is my first choice.
I usually eat tortelli with truffles which are delicious, but only when it's in season, last week we had lasagna, fried gnocco with ham and a plate of roast beef with potatoes, all delicious.
The wine cellar never disappoints me.

All good, friendly staff. Let's say that for a fried gnocco accompanied by ham, a Barozzi cake and 2 medium beers, 30 euros seemed a bit much to me. I understood, also visiting Florence, that in the north they are exaggerating a bit with prices.
