La Borbonica In Bologna

It was our first time at La Borbonica today, so we got 6 pastry samples to go. Among them were a baba au rhum, a chocolate éclair, a Lulù, a pistachio puff, an opéra and a cream cannoli. My favorite was the baba au rhum, it was moist and the alcohol flavour wasn’t overpowering nor bitter. For reference I usually don’t like baba au rhum. The cannoli was good although the cream was grainy and had a strange aftertaste. The shell was nicely done. I really liked the éclair, the Lulù and the pistachio puff. No complaints about those. The opéra didn’t taste like a regular French opéra (if you are familiar with French patisserie). Not much of a coffee flavour if you ask me, it had a hint of alcohol strangely. It was also heavily coated in chocolate glaze, unlike the classic French pastry. We were very pleased with the price. All six pastries costed around €12. We didn’t need to overcommit to one of them since they were all available in small sample sizes of around €1.60 each. Overall I’d recommend. We found that these pastries are not as refined as French pastries, but these are very decent options in Bologna!

The place is inconspicuous but the dishes are delicious

The place is very nice for breakfast. There's a large selection of sweet and savory dishes. The self-service with small trays is a bit inconvenient, meaning you'll have to go to your table several times (if you're feeling greedy).

Beautiful and large pastry shop in the heart of Bologna, with ample seating. A wide range of international pastries, with the addition of various Campania specialties. The same goes for the excellent cakes always produced by the pastry shop. The separation between the pastry counter and the "croissants" counter for breakfast is intelligent. The savoury selection is also good and the dishes prepared at midday for quick tasty lunches that are not too expensive are not to be underestimated. The choice to place the pastry laboratory in full view behind a glass window where the products are always fresh is a nice one. I suggest studying the insertion of a second cash register to be placed next to the one currently positioned on the pastry counter, which often inevitably gets clogged up between the various counter activities and the queue of customers waiting outside the shop too....

Great coffee and cannoli Disgusting toilets

We bought canoli and maritozzo. The gentleman in the coffee department was unnecessarily aggressive. Even though there were 2 coffees on my receipt, he tried to give me 1 coffee. I don't care about such things, but stupid actions leave a bad impression on people.

Parada aquí a la hora del almuerzo de hoy, la exhibición de pastel y la elección es simplemente increíble. Si te gustan los postres este es tu lugar. Un entorno agradable y un montón de asientos interiores también. El café y el té es excelente aquí también.
