A popular old-school restaurant and pub just steps from the Bernini metro station. They have a remarkable selection of beers, some hard to find elsewhere (like the Double Primator, a Czech Imperial Stout with a strong chocolate flavor and a high alcohol content, yet still drinkable enough), excellent, gigantic burgers and sandwiches (my favorite is the Scorbutico, with spiced fried chicken fillets, cheddar, and guacamole), and quality first and second courses that vary seasonally (the last time I visited, I had delicious fresh tagliolini with porcini mushrooms and sausage). The atmosphere is simple yet welcoming and spacious, with a large outdoor area, super-friendly staff, and absolutely competitive prices: what more could you ask for? Reservations are recommended on weekends.

I hadn't been to Birroeca in a while. Last night we went with friends and had a great time. The place is always welcoming and well-kept, the staff is friendly, and the food is very good. I personally had a "Birroteca" sandwich with sausage, nduja, gorgonzola, and olive pâté, and it was really good. The people I was with also enjoyed their burgers and sandwiches. Among the many beers available, I drank the Grimberger Double, which I enjoyed.
