The food was very good, and the people who worked there were very nice and kind! It's a shame the owner came in and started yelling at all the employees and treating them terribly! Horrible! I would have gladly left the money to the employees and not to him!

How can a "osteria" called "la barrocciaia" not serve wine in carafes? 😐
Otherwise, lazy service, average first courses, good sandwiches.

I had aperitivo two nights in a row. The mixed cured meats and cheese platter served with fried bread was very good. The local craft beers (De) were good, as was the Chinese. Lovely atmosphere, a lovely outdoor area with wooden tables and barrels. Excellent service, fair prices, and a varied, tasteful music. Thanks to the owner, Andrea, for the pleasant evenings.

I've been coming since they opened. The service is excellent, fast, and friendly.
The sandwiches are excellent; you can tell the cured meats are homemade.
The quality is also excellent for the osteria, with simple, tasty dishes and just the right amount.
The steak is exceptional!!!
It's worth coming back!

The restaurant is located in the square where Livorno's fruit and vegetable market is set up every morning, slightly hidden behind the vendors' stalls, but it's immediately recognizable by the menus hanging outside.
As soon as you enter, you're greeted by an authentic, rustic atmosphere: a quaint setting dominated by the large counter and hanging hams, a nod to local tradition.
In addition to sandwiches and other delicacies, you can also enjoy lunch or dinner with authentic dishes, and here's the surprise.
I ordered seafood tagliatelle (off the menu) and baby octopus stew, similar to cacciucco: both dishes were rich in flavor, well-cooked, and generously portioned.
The tagliatelle was perhaps a little too peppery for my taste, but so good that I couldn't put down a single bite.
The baby octopus, delicious, also deserved to be mopped up!
The service is attentive and courteous, with short wait times and helpful staff.
Prices are in line with the average for similar establishments, appropriate for the quality and quantity of the dishes.
In short, a quick but truly delicious lunch in a traditional and authentic restaurant that perfectly captures the spirit of Livorno.
I will definitely return to try other specialties: highly recommended!
