La Balena In Cagliari

iniziamo con il dire che Cagliari ha un livello medio di ristorazione altissimo. Per il pesce questo ristorante, o Trattoria, come continua a definirsi, rientra a mio avviso in una cerchia ristrettissima di tre massimo quattro ristoranti migliori a Cagliari. Stiamo parlando di cucina cagliaritana tradizionale, una delle più genuine e sane del mondo, ma non certo di Nouvelle cuisine. Ebbene , in questo ambito La Balena, forte di una tradizione gloriosa e mai venuta meno, e di una clientela variegata è affezionata, è una vera e propria eccellenza. Non avrete difficoltà ad affezionarvi, ma ricordate che è una trattoria a conduzione familiare e dunque è sempre meglio, e segno di rispetto per i lavoratori, prenotare.

We haven't had an evening like this in a long time. Fresh and excellent fish seasoned with an atmosphere of times gone by that is now difficult to find. There is no sloppiness as some say, it is an environment that was intended this way and it is wonderful. Two brothers... two wonderful people, kind, attentive and very good at preparing their dishes. Special praise goes to his brother, impeccable service and he remembers every order by heart. Thank you for giving us this experience... we had a great time. PS. Finally honest prices!!!

Ristorante di pesce tipicamente cagliaritano, caratterizzato da un piacevole ambiente familiare, che offre pesce di giornata ottimo! A la Balena sono la semplicità, la freschezza e l'alta qualità del cibo a farla da padrone. Si respira un'atmosfera tranquilla, il che lo rende adatto a tutti, sia famiglie che turisti. Il servizio è impeccabile, estremamente gentile, attento e caratterizzato da tempi perfetti. Si mangia benissimo e la freschezza della materia prima fa davvero la differenza. Le porzioni, inoltre, sono abbondantissime, i piatti veramente ottimi e saporiti con una materia prima di grande qualità. Considerato il tutto, i prezzi sono eccezionali. Sicuramente da provare e da ritornarci come facciamo noi!!! Un consiglio ai turisti: non si può dire di essere stati a Cagliari senza aver assaggiato almeno una volta i piatti di Cristiana e Gigi.

Excellent food in a warm family environment. We were greeted and seated in a friendly way and helped in English. We felt like a local even though we cannot speak Italian. Lots of interesting things on the walls about the sea to keep kids busy. Pictures on the walls about the history of the place. We tried the mussles, octopus salad and mixed fried fish. All were perfectly done. Mussles can be the best ones I have ever eaten. Fried squids (calamari) were also marvelous. If you are in Cagliari, come and taste the sea here 🐳

A little dated place but good fresh fish dishes. The burrida and the well-seasoned fregola are excellent. We had a good time and will return.

After years that my husband and I, passing in front of the Whale, proposed stopping to eat, yesterday we finally had lunch there with our children. What can I say, everything was excellent, from starters to dessert, at very reasonable prices. Friendly and pleasant staff. The place is dated (it's a trattoria) and this represents a further strong point, as it is super welcoming and you feel like you're at your grandparents' house. Highly recommended

This place touches my heart for personal reasons... but if I have to choose where to eat well I choose this place... everything is excellent
