La Balena In Cagliari

Definitely THE restaurant to go to in Cagliari, if only there were more places like this…

The friendly atmosphere is what a trattoria should be. You can feel the love and tradition that is perpetuated. Excellent, from appetizers to dessert and coffee. I particularly enjoyed the octopus and potatoes and the burrida, truly excellent. The fritto misto was not only beautiful to look at, but excellent, and for someone who can't stomach it, I have to say it didn't cause me any problems. We'll definitely be back, especially because I'd like to try the fregula, which, unfortunately, they couldn't prepare due to missing ingredients... It's a given! Because, being a trattoria that focuses on seafood, they can't invent something that isn't available at the time. I really appreciated this detail. The desserts are few, but truly excellent, especially the orange amaretto. The owners are friendly, approachable, and witty. Highly recommended trattoria. Thanks, see you next time.

The only downside is that they don't serve first courses, but this allows you to enjoy everything else based on fresh fish.

Balena is an unrepeatable place!

We had lunch on Wednesday for my mother-in-law's birthday. The place is rustic, no frills, but still impressive. You go to a place like this to eat excellent fresh fish. You eat whatever's available: octopus with potatoes, bites, mussels, and grilled and fried fish—all delicious. Unfortunately, I couldn't have the burrida because I'm allergic to nuts, but I made up for it with the rest. Congratulations!

We went to your restaurant for the first time today after it was recommended to us in Milan. They told us the history of the restaurant, da Balena, and we were fascinated. We ate well: simple, carefully prepared dishes, exquisite desserts, and a truly excellent fritto misto. The atmosphere was familiar, and we felt pampered. The owners were particularly kind. ☺️ We'll definitely be back!
