Home cooking with the freshest fish; the waiter is extremely kind and knowledgeable. We each had two fish dishes, a liter and a half of house white wine, and three liqueurs for a total of €70. The staff was incredibly friendly despite the full dining room. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

I'm writing this post to review La Balena restaurant 🥰
On June 18th, I went to lunch with 10 colleagues. We all had a great time. They welcomed us with great pleasure. We chose a menu previously agreed upon with the owner, who was very kind and helpful when I asked her to send me the menus so I could share them with my colleagues! The quality and quantity of the lunch were outstanding. We ate very well, everything was delicious. (There was some leftovers that we kindly asked them to prepare for us to take home. I personally bought a pack of three, which I ate the next day, and it was even better.) I wanted to thank you publicly and wish you all the best in your work. See you soon, La Balena.

What more can I say that hasn't already been said, except for the owner's grumpy nature, which is part of his charm 🤩 When I come to Cagliari, this has been my favorite restaurant for 20 years, passed down from father to son. It's especially good value for money, a must-try if you're in Cagliari, and everything is fresh. Don't be fooled by the exterior; it has nothing to do with the quality of the place. If you want to be transported back 30 years, nothing has changed. Absolutely try it!
Thank you, owner, everything was excellent.
P.S. They only serve fish, no meat or pasta.

We went for lunch on April 25, 2026.
My husband, my father, and I had a wonderful time 🤗.
The trattoria offers dishes that truly reflect authentic Sardinian cuisine.
Fresh fish dishes, cooked according to Sardinian tradition.
Each dish was better than the last 😋.
Special mention for the walnut burrida and the wonderful fritto misto.
The price? Excellent, I'd say, considering the right quantity and quality of the dishes.
We'll definitely be back...
Also because we're waiting for the eels 😋🤗

I'm sorry I can't add one more star for the food, when I come here I feel like I'm having lunch with my cousins and aunts when I was a child, thank you for being here in Cagliari and not elsewhere. Thank you and THANK YOU FOR EXISTING.

I visited La Balena in 2006 and 2018. Hope to be back next year. It is not for social media, no michelin stars, no ameritalian food. It is for local dishes and tradition. Keep going La Balena.
I went today with my mom, I felt at home, fresh and well cooked fish, family atmosphere and lots of kindness, I will definitely be back

We finally had dinner at Balena for the first time, after hearing so much about it. It was like stepping back in time: a seafood dinner with simple, intense flavors, hard to find elsewhere, especially in an era where dishes seem to need to be overly elaborate to have an identity. I think the choice of simple dishes is perfect for showcasing the quality of the ingredients. Straightforward and unfussy, some might not like it, but for me it was a wonderful discovery.
