Just bad luck? I hadn't been to "Balena" for 30 years, and I had good memories of it. Finally, on the occasion of the visit of two couples of Roman friends, I decide to book a table for 10 people, also given the good reviews. Unfortunately we left very dissatisfied, and me more than anyone. Mussels (insufficient portions for 10 people) reduced to a minimum perhaps due to having left them to cook too much? So much so that many shells were empty and you could find the tiny mussel in the cooking broth. The Burrida? Insufficient. Tasteless and nutty with the scale. The octopus is good and the tuna is the same. But I would also have expected some other starters. And well! The mixed fry arrives and what should I say? A few squid, some small fish and a myriad of small shrimp. It certainly won't remain in my memories. Sin! I hoped to make a good impression on the Roman guests by taking them to a historic trattoria in Cagliari. Price €30.

Simple and genuine cuisine, home-made, honest. The fish is fresh, cooked just right (noticeable presence of vinegar, as was customary). The environment, rustic and pleasant, is however not very hospitable given the season: the absolute lack of any heating affects pleasure and digestion. And the wine - red - is served at refrigerator temperature

When you choose a trattoria you do it to return to the slow pace, to the familiar environment, to the typical tastes and recipes of the past. Those of tradition. At Balena I found all this and a freshness of the food which is always a guarantee

A guarantee for those looking for quality and freshness in seafood, cooked to perfection and following the typical Cagliari tradition, excellent service, if you go there once it's impossible not to return. They make real burrida (the best in the hinterland) made like it used to be.

On the best log in Casteddu po papai fish a sa Casteddaja comments ddi dexit. It was open in the 1970s and run by its own family, you can hardly hear their comments in the house. On mandiari beautiful meda and at a good price, always fresh. I live outside of Sardinia, but I hear that it is very close to the airport of Casteddu, two steps away from Medas. I will definitely be back. Well meda, sit here!

Da ''La Balena'' è per noi un appuntamento fisso ogni volta che ci rechiamo a Cagliari. In questo locale ogni piatto ha il sapore della tradizione e il pesce è immancabilmente FRESCHISSIMO e trattato come ''si deve. Non ci ha mai delusi, anzi, non finisce mai di stupirci. Infatti, da buoni Emilani orgogliosi della nostra arte culinaria, abbiamo sfidato la sorte nella scelta del dessert, ordinando la ''Zuppa Inglese'', tipica delle nostre parti. Oh! è stata una rivelazione, una Zuppa Inglese degna di tante Nonne Emiliane e decisamente superiore a tante altre proposte
da ristoranti Emiliani. Davvero ottima anche la Chees Cake all'Arancia. Immancabile come sempre la cordialità nell'accoglienza da parte del Sig. Gigi e della Sig.ra Cristiana. Grazie ancora e arrivederci a presto.

Ormai sono un habitué e mi trovo sempre bene.Ho notato delle introduzioni di dolci della casa nel menù che sono una bella sorpresa.Ho preso il mio solito fritto,ottimo, lo scabecciu e una zuppa inglese che devo dire (da goloso che sono ahimè )era squisita…una garanzia
