I passed through Livorno and, after asking around, I was recommended its excellent caciucco. The place is a bit dated and could use a refresh, but the caciucco is truly exceptional.

Super delicious cacciucco, incredibly tender octopus, flavorful fish. Served in bread that's dipped in the perfect amount of water. Truly the restaurant for cacciucco par excellence!

For me, Sottomarino in Livorno is synonymous with Cacciucco (Livorno's version of fish soup). The Cacciucco, majestic, packed with fish, shellfish, and seafood, served in generous portions, is served on a bed of toasted bread rubbed with garlic. A delight!!! The service? We're in Livorno, so that's a further guarantee.

Un cacciucco veramente divino, porzione grande (più che sufficiente a riempire letteralmente 2 persone), polpo e seppia che si scioglievano in bocca, vari tranci di pesce saporitissimi... un vero trionfo di sapori. Polenta fritta cotta alla perfezione. Chi era con me ha mangiato totani gratinati e orata arrosto squisiti. Rapporto qualità prezzo veramente eccezionale. Personale simpaticissimo e accogliente. Un posto genuino dove si riesce ancora a respirare l'atmosfera di una volta.... Bravi!!!

Il miglior cacciucco della Toscana. Il piatto forte del ristorante accompagnato da ottimo fritto. Locale informale ma ti senti a casa, coccolati dal proprietario.
