14/08/2026: Tried for dinner on August 11, 2026.
Location: The Grand Canyon Country Pub is nestled in the green Monferrato countryside, in Castelnuovo Belbo, a half-hour drive from Alessandria. Surrounded by fields and vineyards, it's the ideal place to spend a relaxing evening. You can eat both inside (with air conditioning) and outside, in which case it's advisable to bring mosquito repellent. The restaurant has internal parking, but you can also leave your car outside without any major problems. The decor is typical of a pub, with dining options available either at a table or at the bar. One observation: the music inside is perhaps a bit too loud; it doesn't compromise conversation, but perhaps it would be more appropriate to have it in the background. The restaurant also has Sky TV.
Menu: very extensive (I'm not a big fan of menus that stretch for miles because they can end up being overwhelming), including appetizers (appetizers, bruschetta, etc.), burgers of various sizes, piadinas, crepes, grilled meats, main courses, desserts, and ice cream, with the option of vegetarian options. Drinks naturally range from a long list of beers (as befits a good English pub), wines, and other beverages like Sprite, Coca-Cola, etc. This place also has an active eating challenge: whoever manages to finish a 1700-gram burger, accompanied by 700 grams of chips, in 40 minutes will receive €100 in vouchers to spend within the restaurant. Numerous photos of people who have attempted this over the years hang on the walls, but very few (maybe 2 or 3 in total) have succeeded. You be the judge. In short, the quality of the food was more than satisfactory.
Service: Fairly quick (when we arrived, around 9:00 PM, the restaurant was almost full, especially outside), friendly and professional. From ordering to the first delivery, about 20 minutes passed, a more than reasonable wait.
Bill: €25-30 per person, in line with the website's description and for restaurants of this type (I'd even go so far as to say it's perhaps one of the cheapest).
Definitely worth keeping in mind for a future "English-style" meal.
