Il Posticino In Trieste

I had a "Fish box" and was beyond satisfied. This dish was what I was looking for and it met my expectations. Great for me and I'll have it again next time. Yes, there is only one person and it took longer than I expected, but it was worth it!

I recommend it. Lots of choice on the menu, fair price, nice location. Very friendly owner!

Located in the heart of Trieste, between the picturesque Piazza Cavana and the lively Via Cavana, "Il Posticino" is a small restaurant that calls itself a takeaway, but offers one of the best street food experiences consumed on site in the city. This area is one of the most picturesque and lively melting pots of Trieste, making every visit a unique and colorful experience. "Il Posticino" is undoubtedly one of the best places in terms of quality-price ratio, and perhaps the only truly decent place to enjoy fried foods, fish & chips, Ascoli olives, fried onions, but also piadinas, burgers, toasts and salads. Furthermore, it is the only place that has not yet succumbed to the trend of calling rice salads "poke"! My favorite dish is undoubtedly the fish & chips, which has nothing to envy of those across the Channel. A tip: placing a couple of low tables with deck chairs facing the comings and goings of Triestine characters heading to or coming from Via Cavana would always fill up, allowing customers to enjoy their food while observing the lively urban scene. If you are in Trieste and are looking for a place to enjoy excellent street food, "Il Posticino" is an unmissable stop.

Food was good, cheap and fastly served. Portion of calamars is thou small.

We stopped by chance, welcoming place, very nice, kind and professional owner. A pleasure for the palate, excellent frying.

Not to be confused with the nearby café as the little place doesn't make coffee!!! Fast and efficient service.

Very long waiting times, we had three toasts and a hot dog waiting over thirty minutes. Very small portions which make the quality-price ratio not very advantageous. Excellent central location, very limited places.

Not bad! If you want to eat something “quickly” then you should go to this place but there is only one employee who works there, who in fact is not the friendliest, so the food takes time but not that much. The lunch I only ate the fish and chips, it was… good. The atmosphere is excellent to sit and enjoy the street.

Calamari fritti ottimi! Nonostante io abbia di solito problemi con il fritto questa volta non ne ho avuti, segno che gli ingredienti utilizzati per la pastella sono di qualità. I calamari erano molto morbidi e gustosi. Assaggiate anche le verdure in pastella, buonissime!!
