Very small place in a quiet alleyway in the heart of Trastevere. The place has more of a street food look than a trattoria, with a few high tables with stools and some counter seating overlooking the small open kitchen. In the warm months I remember seeing it with a few bar tables outside, but the day I visited they weren't there. The reason for the visit is due to the fact that in 2023 it won the RomaToday ranking for the best carbonara in Rome. Since it is a ranking based on likes, it was necessary to check. I'll start by saying that the open kitchen also allowed me to verify all the preparation of the dish, you can see love and care in all the dishes they offer. Coming to the carbonara, it is certainly good, although certainly not the best in Rome. For pasta, a tonnarello made by some fresh pasta laboratory, good quality and crunchy bacon, even the one prepared before, good with pecorino and pepper, a little lacking in cream which unfortunately left everything a little too dry. Sore point, very painful indeed, all served on a paper plate and with disposable cutlery that could barely lift a forkful without breaking. Given that the cost of the dish is restaurant-style and not street-style pasta, one must expect something better in this respect. But the quality of the carbonara is very good. I also tried a fried cacio e pepe pizza, good and excellent as a cheap meal on the go. The two girls who ran the place and prepared the dishes were cheerful and cute. Overall an excellent option if you want to do something quick in Trastevere while eating well, less so if you are looking for a place to spend a few hours.

Amazing food. Carbonara & maritozzo amatriciana was a delight. Very friendly staff. Sitting is not the most comfy but liked the friendly atmosphere. Defo recommended!

Had dinner here. The carbonara was unlike any other I've ever had. The sauce was very thick and had this strong beautiful taste of egg yolks. It was also slightly orange - I understand that is because the chickens that made the eggs ate carrots, which made the yolks orange-ish. Really worth trying.
Also had some maritozzi to go (the one with baccalà and the one with amatriciana). They were good. The combination of sweet dough and savory filling was great. I found the maritozzi quite pricy though, not great value in terms of price.

exceptional evening in a very popular place, in the heart of Trastevere, but truly homely that takes you back in time. Francesca and Cris welcome you cordially and immediately put you at ease, always with a smile and always ready to stop and talk to you!! Samuel and Soriso are good in the kitchen, fast and always smiling too. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to spend an evening "with friends", where the "friends" are them :-) :-)!!! a dear hug to them and thanks for everything!!!

My husband found this little pearl hidden in the lovely neighborhood of Trastevere by searching on local websites for the true Roman carbonara. And this is exactly what you will get the creamest Carbonara made with egg youks, pecorino romano, guanciale and black pepper. No heavy cream, no bacon!
The appetizers and dessert are based on the classical italian sweet that gives the name to this awesome restaurant, and they are trully food that would make to the table of emperor Augustus.
The chef Cris was another delight to met and we were lucky enough to keep talking with her while finishing our bottle of wine, an amazing chef and person. #inVinoVeritas
In a few words the food of this place is worthy of the eternal city of Rome.

I found out about this restaurant from YT channel Vincenzo plate. Excellent chefs, ambience, carbonara, wine and their version of Tiramisu is just on another level. Full recommendation for a restaurant and many greetings from Serbia and the city of Novi Sad, ćao.

Seguendo le recensioni di Trip, mio marito ed io siamo andati a cercare il Maritozzo Rosso e lo abbiamo trovato!!! Partiti con un maritozzo a testa, ne è seguito un altro per me e la carbonara (premiata come la migliore di Roma per il 2023 ed a ragione!!! Strong e verace come Dio comanda!!!) A terminare un tiramaritozzo+scaglie di cioccolato fondente una favola!!!
Personale simpatico ed accogliente insomma un locale dove ritorneremo sicuramente perché un maritozzo tira l'altro!!!!

Bel localino in una via defilata di Trastevere. Diverso dai soliti ristoranti per turisti. Pochi coperti ma ottimi. Abbia preso 2 maritozzi con polpette e all'amatriciana. Di primo ho preso pasta alla gricia con carciofi. Tutto squisito. L'unica pecca è la temperatura interna che ti costringe a mangiare col giubbino perché lanporta viene lasciata aperta. Servizio veramente simpatico e cordiale
