We visited this restaurant on the 8th of August 2025, but I've only just been able to post a review. The food we had was brilliant, and I had to share my experience. My boyfriend chose spaghetti with tomatoes, prawns, burrata cheese, and pistachios, which was a rather interesting combination, something none of us had tried before in a savory dish. As for myself, I had gnocchi with a creamy pumpkin sauce, which was simple, but oh so good. And I would highly recommend these dishes to anyone who has never tried anything like it. We paired them with sparkling water and lemon, which was perfect for a hot summer day.

A great restaurant with an owner who knows how to cook! Everything is freshly prepared and cooked with love. His family helps him. Located on Piazza Mazzini, with a great view, three minutes from Piazza Duomo. A really good place.

A very warm welcome from the pizza maker and a pleasant setting in a pretty square in the center of Catania. The pizzas are generously topped and well presented. It's a shame that the dough is disappointing: very dry, it's more reminiscent of pane cunzato than real pizza dough. It needs improvement to live up to the rest.

Warm welcome from the pizza maker. The place is very friendly. The pizzas arrive, very well presented and well supplied. The only downside is that the dough is really not good, dry, it has nothing to do with pizza dough but more the consistency of a panino. Still, while walking around old Catania, unfortunately we see the same thing in several places

Wandering around Catania, right in the center of Piazza Mazzini, I stopped for lunch at "Il Maggese". Restaurant and pizzeria with indoor and outdoor seating, family-run. I was welcomed by Giuseppe, the owner, a helpful, friendly and open-minded person. Pleasant atmosphere and simple but tasty cuisine. Excellent value for money. I recommend stopping by and trying it for yourself: it's really worth it.

Siamo venuti perché consigliati da un amico. Siamo rimasti assolutamente stupiti dalla bontà del pane (fatto da loro con lievito madre) e da una pepata di cozze da antologia. Non ci hanno deluso nemmeno la gli spaghetti alle vongole e le penne alle norma. Una menzione speciale alla gentilezza di Clelia e Marisa in sala. Torneremo!
