This restaurant has changed name to Fish and More. Half the space is now a different restaurant called Don Vince. So don't look for the name Il Maggese.

We visited this restaurant on the 8th of August 2025, but I've only just been able to post a review. The food we had was brilliant, and I had to share my experience. My boyfriend chose spaghetti with tomatoes, prawns, burrata cheese, and pistachios, which was a rather interesting combination, something none of us had tried before in a savory dish. As for myself, I had gnocchi with a creamy pumpkin sauce, which was simple, but oh so good. And I would highly recommend these dishes to anyone who has never tried anything like it. We paired them with sparkling water and lemon, which was perfect for a hot summer day.

A great restaurant with an owner who knows how to cook! Everything is freshly prepared and cooked with love. His family helps him. Located on Piazza Mazzini, with a great view, three minutes from Piazza Duomo. A really good place.

The food was very delicious. I thought the cannoli was amazing. The atmosphere is very nice and it is very suitable for going with a group of friends.

A very warm welcome from the pizza chef and a pleasant setting on a pretty square in the center of Catania. The pizzas are generously topped and beautifully presented. It's a shame the dough is disappointing: very dry, it's more like pane cunzato than a proper pizza dough. It needs improvement to live up to the rest of the experience.

A warm welcome from the pizza maker. The place is very pleasant. The pizzas arrive, beautifully presented and generously topped. The only downside is the dough; it's really not good, dry and nothing like pizza dough, more like a panini. However, while walking around old Catania, you unfortunately see the same thing in several places.

23/02/2026: Young, welcoming and friendly atmosphere, excellent service, quality dishes
10/01/2026: I was looking for a place to get pizza for lunch. First, I found a friendly voice who answered the phone, then a welcoming environment, delicious pizzas, and a dessert that makes my day better 😉. Moreover, and most importantly for me, I found true and spontaneous inclusion for my son. That doesn't always happen, it doesn't happen often. I highly recommend it in every way.

Vuciata - kitchen market

07/01/2026: I am always critical to dine at restaurants inside the city centre because so many restaurants are really not serving good food but charging you a lot. Vuciata is an exception. The fish there is so fresh and delicious. We tried the grilled octopus with mash potatoes and sarde a beccafico alla catanese. Both are unbelievably good especially the octopus.
08/12/2025: We came for the Pasta 2 times and they were really really good,the pasta the sauce,everything!The Staff was really friendly and so fast! We will visit next time too!
