Wandering around Catania, right in the center of Piazza Mazzini, I stopped for lunch at "Il Maggese". Restaurant and pizzeria with indoor and outdoor seating, family-run. I was welcomed by Giuseppe, the owner, a helpful, friendly and open-minded person. Pleasant atmosphere and simple but tasty cuisine. Excellent value for money. I recommend stopping by and trying it for yourself: it's really worth it.

Breathtaking pizzas, the dough is very good. For those who are a little more hungry, you can order the pasta, but you have to be hungry!!!!

My son and I were hungry and went in for lunch. Reasonable prices for Italy, there were few people during the day and we were served quickly. The pizza is ordinary. But this meat for 16 euros was as if heated in the oven in front of us. Tough and tasteless. I won't go back and don't recommend it. There are very few tomatoes in the salad. Very mediocre

Siamo venuti perché consigliati da un amico. Siamo rimasti assolutamente stupiti dalla bontà del pane (fatto da loro con lievito madre) e da una pepata di cozze da antologia. Non ci hanno deluso nemmeno la gli spaghetti alle vongole e le penne alle norma. Una menzione speciale alla gentilezza di Clelia e Marisa in sala. Torneremo!

They recommended me to try this restaurant and I will always be grateful to those who did!
The food was exquisite, the service from Marisa and Clelia excellent, kind and discreet, and Giuseppe's cuisine was fantastic!
We tried the mussel pepper appetizer, the pasta alla Norma (and it is made "a Norma"), the pasta with clams and some grilled swordfish. Everything fresh, plentiful and top quality.
They even make the bread themselves, with sourdough!
Next time we'll try the pizza!

There’s a lot of options to eat when you’re walking around the touristy part of Catania.
Come here and eat. The service was professional and friendly. Food was delicious.
We had the carpaccio of bresaola with arugula and Parmesan. A big arugula salad and a pizza. Couple of glasses of wine and coffee. Perfetto.
Great service and smile from the server with the green eyes!
