This small restaurant located at the beginning of the village, with a welcoming location, invites you to enter. Chosen by chance, my husband and I managed to find a table for two and it turned out to be a very pleasant dinner thanks to the kindness of the waiters who were always precise, helpful and smiling (no small feat here in Liguria). Good food, medium-large portions, fresh raw materials, excellent value for money considering being in Riomaggiore.

Be careful, they only serve 1/4 fish in the grilled seafood, not a whole fish like 2 years ago. Same for the rest: 1 shrimp instead of 4, 1 crayfish instead of 2 and there is also one seafood missing.
They serve stale focaccia from the day before, I point it out to the waitress, she just says "sorry it's the one from the day before" and leaves us with the stale focaccia. With dish prices of €18 to €34, this is unwelcome.
I don't recommend the waitress.
The food was good, we also had the mussel ravioli. Too bad the service taints the quality of the cuisine.

The perfect restaurant in Riomaggiore. We were immediately greeted in a friendly manner and were able to get a table even without a reservation. There is a large wine list with both regional and national wines. Typically for Riomaggiore, we chose the Spaghetti Frutti di Mare and the Spaghetti di Mussels, both of which really impressed us. Very good value for money, we were very impressed by the quality and size of the dishes. We would definitely come again.

My family agreed that this was the best meal we had during our 14 days in Italy. The Spaghetti dolce
Mare and grilled seafood combo were amazing. The shrimps were fresh and tasty.

Linguine with fresh anchovies was delicious! The menu said aromatic bread, but that meant bread crumbs on top of the pasta!? It was tasty, but also a bit dry. Desserts were divine!
Atmosphere inside is cozy. They also have an indoor-outdoor veranda and seating at the curb across the street (!?)
Service was a bit slow and inattentive at times.
Wine by the glass 8€ and selections of bottles were 30-40€. A pitcher of house wine 12€.
Once again on this trip, I had to ask for a spoon when eating spaghetti!?? Is this local thing or have Italians stopped rolling their pasta?

We stopped in to Il Grottino for our last dinner in Riomaggiore, a very chilly night after a beautiful day and were seated in the warm front area where we could people watch while dining. We ordered a bottle of Italian Barbera wine, insalata mista, spaghetti with the most delicious little clams, and (the winner of the night) taglietelle pasta with rabbit ragu. Bread was served with our meal and our waiter laughed when we asked for olive oil and salt to dip the bread in. He said ‘not Italian’! But we love it. Ciao!
