Matteo Pavia I, along with my family, would like to express my deepest gratitude for the exceptional care and dedication you showed my husband, Paolo Bruzza, during his two-month stay in your department (October and November 2025). Your professionalism and kindness, as well as your profound respect for the patient, were a true source of comfort and hope for us during a particularly difficult time. You are an example of how medicine can also be a life mission. Allow me to extend a special thank you to Dr. Angela Maria Di Matteo and Dr. Marco Vecchia for their exceptional expertise and availability. Furthermore, we cannot forget the promptness and timeliness with which the condition requiring hospitalization was identified: Dr. Mara Bonardi (Diagnostic Radiology 2 Unit - Neuroradiology) MRI on September 23. And the entire STROKE UNIT. Thank you again for everything. Treatments will have to continue, but this no longer worries us, because we know we are in good hands. Yesterday I had the opportunity to check out the San Matteo emergency room (both ophthalmology and general) for an emergency, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. In about 50 minutes, they both examined me, and after a consultation between the dermatologist and the ophthalmologist, they prescribed the right treatment. First of all, I had contacted my ophthalmologist in Milan that morning to schedule an emergency private appointment, which required a fee... result... the first available paid appointment in mid-December. Let's not even talk about the other specialized emergency rooms in Milan. Being halfway between Milan and Pavia (and mindful of the inefficiencies of Milan's facilities despite the significant resources available), I decided to go to San Matteo in Pavia. Result: the old facility is a bit dilapidated, but full of young doctors and nurses: you can immediately tell they are prepared, motivated, and well-organized. And in a couple of hours of waiting, between the ophthalmology and general practice departments, I didn't see anyone (unlike many decidedly more "cool" Milanese hospitals) who wasn't focused on their work and with people who were human and willing to understand the situation (in many hospitals, ophthalmologists would have started by saying... "... dermatological problem... go..." and vice versa). So, as a Milanese, I have to say: Pavia beats Milan... It was also surprising how, when booking my appointments, the San Matteo staff seemed almost disappointed at not being able to find an available date with the national health system... I think I've only been doing paid appointments in Milan for a decade now, so this reaction made me smile a little, but I appreciated the gesture. I would recommend that the Lombardy Region, or anyone who can afford it, renovate the old part of the San Matteo with public funding, as in my opinion it's a worthy facility.

I've been hospitalized for eight days at San Matteo Hospital in Pavia for a broken ankle, and I must say I've been fortunate to have top-notch doctors, nurses, and healthcare assistants around me, but some will remain in my heart, because they were there during my time of great suffering. Elisa, sweet and patient as well as beautiful. Always available with her kindness and smile. Gaetano and Giusi, the first ones I met the night I was hospitalized, welcomed me with a smile and joy that never made me feel alone. Giusi, very sweet and smiling, and Gaetano, always cheerful, which improves the quality of life of a hospitalized patient. Monica, with her sweetness and gentleness in taking blood samples and injections... whom I call the "fairy hand." Carmen, with her beautiful eyes, kind, cheerful, and always ready to help those who suffer and bring a smile. Salvatore, handsome, kind, and very human, available to meet any patient's needs. Salvino, there's an adjective to describe him: "sunny." His good morning, sir, with a smile on his lips, brightens the day of our patients, and he's always ready to help, not out of obligation but out of love. I met Sabrina in the last few days, but I've gotten to know her. Sweet, sensitive, and gentle with her patients. Federica, beautiful and sensitive, always ready to help, with patience and gentleness. Cristina, so elegant yet gentle and kind with us patients. Tommaso, such a kind, helpful young man who does his job because he loves it. He takes care of the patient with such gentleness. Lastly, I want to mention a small woman, but so big-hearted: Agata. I've never met a sweeter woman, one who carries out her work as if it were a life mission. THANK YOU everyone, and I apologize if I've forgotten anyone.

An excellent hospital that makes the much-vaunted Humanitas look like a novice hospital. The stroke unit literally works miracles. The staff (doctors, nursing assistants, and nurses) are all knowledgeable and kind. I can only thank God for this place. I wish all the staff the best for the invaluable service they provide to others.

I hope it continues to function as well as it has in the past and guarantees health services to the citizens of Pavia.

I would like to highlight the professionalism of the entire orthopedics department. The sensitivity of the staff makes the stay in that department seem less difficult. The operating team deserves special mention, especially Professor Eugenio Janelli, a true expert in hip replacements. He, for me, allowed me to rediscover the pleasure of walking and to be able to do, without pain, all the things that people without arthritis can do every day. THANK YOU, Professor FRANCESCO V.

I entered San Matteo for the removal of kidney stones, after two years and several operations they were unable to remove them. It was like entering Dante's Inferno!!!!!

It is a hospital connected to the medical university, there are many specific health specialties and there is also an efficient emergency room.

My daughter was admitted and treated first in the Emergency Room, ENT, then in Intensive Care and subsequently in the Infectious Diseases Department DEA. The entire staff was competent, kind and caring.
