Il Giardino Restaurant & Pizzeria In Diamante

After asking a couple of people here in Diamante for recommendations, and both of them recommended this restaurant, we decided to go for lunch. As soon as we sat down, the waiter (also the owner) asked us what we wanted, and when we pointed to the seafood risotto, he cleverly pointed out that the risotto would take at least 40 minutes... so we decided to order two appetizers as well. The mixed seafood appetizer was really good, but the mussels with pepper sauce were inedible, no matter how much pepper was on them. But when the risottos arrived, we realized they weren't the ones we'd ordered, but rather two porcini mushroom risottos! When we pointed out the mistake, they apologized and said they'd remake the seafood risotto right away! What? It didn't take 40 minutes? The only truly nice person was the guy's father, who didn't know what to say to apologize. But since our train was leaving in 30 minutes, we decided to have the mushroom risotto, even though my girlfriend really hated it. When it came to the bill, to apologize for what had happened, they took... guess what? A full €2! I'm not saying they should have given them to us, but at least they should have only charged us for one... right?

We ordered takeout, and the service was fast. The portions were generous and flavorful, and the spaghetti with clams and gnocchi alla Sorrentina were excellent. We'll definitely be back for table service.

We made a reservation in early July on a warm evening. They offered us a table in the semi-open-air dining room, where there was no air conditioning. We asked for service, and they obliged. Otherwise, the pizza and fried food were good. The welcome and service could be improved, with little attention paid to guests.

Great food. Good service. It was busy for a restaurant without a view. That says it all.

We opted for the latter, enjoying Diamante's cool evening air and the good food. The Calabrian-style fried fish was decent but nothing special, but we upgraded to the Calabrian-style fusilli, a couple of pizzas, and a well-done steak. We finished the meal with red and yellow watermelon. Everything was good, and the service was good. The prices are moderately high, justified by the good quality of the food. Recommended.

I visited last year and found a good pizza, but this year it was scandalous. About an hour's wait for 4 inedible pizzas. It's a shame because it could have become our go-to place in Diamante.

Ristorante pizzeria situato nei pressi del centro storico. Ho trovato facilmente parcheggio per il furgone, probabilmente perché siamo in bassa stagione. Abbiamo preso un paio di antipasti all italiana, con ottimi affettati e formaggi locali, e due pizze molto buone e ben presentate. Il tutto in tempi molto celeri, ci tornerò.
