I need to catch up on yet another review that's been lost for some unknown reason, especially here, which is a must-see for anyone who knows and lives in this area. Ponte Milvio used to be three things: the market (first on the left of the square, then where the parking lot is now, and finally indoors where it is today), Pallotta's for pizza at dinner, and Gianfornaio. Period: three pillars. But that was the Gianfornaio located on the square, on the corner of Via Flaminia... where you'd find ladies in fur coats queuing like housewives... one of the best bakeries in the entire capital. Now Gianfornaio is a brand and you can find it in branches just about everywhere, but it's not the same. The quality of the baked goods has remained medium-high, but the selection has obviously expanded in a location that has made nightlife its cornerstone, and competition has multiplied dramatically. This place is a go-to for many offices in the area, and has therefore also specialized in lunch breaks, although it struggles to handle the sometimes very hefty crowds (for example, for SNA courses or other events). Service is fairly quick and friendly (the weak point remains the cash register, but this is a bit of a constant in Rome), the prices are not low but fairly in line with the local area, and the overall experience remains positive, especially the breakfast portion. I'm a bit nostalgic for the original formula and feel that this aperitivo craze has ruined the typical local dining experience, but Gianfornaio—at least this—remains a resource for those who come here. And let's hope it puts a stop to this globalization that has impoverished what may be an ancient but tried-and-tested formula. Need help? Then leave a like and check out the other reviews about Rome and beyond.

Il Gianfornaio - Ponte Milvio is located in Rome's Quartiere XV (Della Vittoria) at Largo Maresciallo Diaz 14-19.
A BAKERY THAT TELLS ROME:
Founded in the 1980s in this very area, initially as a bakery, it's more than just a bakery; over time, it has evolved to offer a full-service food service and an excellent coffee shop.
EXPERIENCE:
Entering, you'll appreciate the warm, rustic decor, the distinctive aroma of freshly baked bread, a wide selection of pastries, and a top-notch coffee shop.
I enjoyed a delicious breakfast with a cappuccino and a filled croissant.
Outside, there are comfortable tables with umbrellas to provide shade.
While remaining true to its origins, it has adapted to the times, renewing and expanding its offerings.
FUN FACT: DID YOU KNOW THAT...?
There are several locations in the city; I enjoyed the one in Testaccio and the newest one, the one near the iconic Piazza di Spagna.
ROME IN DETAIL:
Rome isn't just about grand monuments and squares; it's also a city to experience, like this neighborhood, which is very popular both day and night with its many clubs, bars, and restaurants.

We came for a quick aperitivo, ordered two bottled beers and a platter with a few pizzas, a white pizza, and fries for €18. Honestly, I found the place quite dirty, especially the tables and glasses. The pizza and pizzas weren't bad, but the fries were burnt. I wouldn't go back.
A classic in the Ponte Milvio area, nestled in a pleasant setting amidst the vibrant nightlife of northern Rome.
I consider Gianfornaio's focaccia and pizza part of my Roman past, though I still enjoy popping in for a quick breakfast during my travels.
I've noticed that things have changed slightly since the past, but it's still a pleasant place.
