Il Gelato di San Crispino In Roma

Absolutely the best gelato I’ve ever had, and handmade and fresh.

It was our first afternoon in Rome (a Sunday) and we had strolled to the Trevi Fountain from our hotel. Due to not being fully adjusted to local time yet, we were not hungry despite skipping lunch. It was approaching 1:30 p.m. and we wanted a short break before continuing our stroll. My daughter was anxious to get Gelato and had looked this place up based on reviews. It was only 2 - 3 blocks from the fountain's plaza, so we wandered over. It is on a quiet street. We each got a small cup of different flavors. I think the others both got coffee Gelato. The guy serving it seemed to be encouraging us to try a half-and-half sample, so I split mine between the coffee and a chocolate variety (I don't recall which one). Everyone really liked their cup! It was quite flavorful. They have a couple of small areas for 'dine in' and a restroom in the back for customers. There was really no room for tables or benches outside. We ate briefly in the shop and then continued our walk with the remainders of our cups. This is a very good option for grabbing a Gelato in central Rome!

Contrary to what TA says, San Crispino is still open and still serving good gelato. We had pistachio and zabaione. Friendly service.

A more humble looking gelato place with the gelati all covered like the authentic ones. The pistachio is so good!

The ice cream is quite good, it seems like it is made with fresh ingredients. But I asked for "pistachio, eggnog and a little banana", but I received 90%(!!!) banana, a teaspoon of pistachio and a teaspoon of eggnog. From that quantity I received the creams were good, banana wasn't bad either, but I left almost all of it, because I didn't want it in this quantity! And according to my taste it was a little overgrown. Disappointed( P. S. The review is not contradictory as the ice cream shop said in response. Ingredients are good. I explained well why I was disappointed: I asked for "pistachio, zabaglione and A LITTLE banana", but I received the copa with 90% banana!!! Why not even a third of each flavor? Why 90% banana?

Meh...Decent ice cream but nothing more. It will be organic, natural, whatever you want, but the taste does not exceed a good average (for Rome). Rather limited choice of flavours. Positive point: the abundant quantity compared to the price and adjacent competition.

Tasted good, but we got the wrong ice cream and whipped cream, which we did not ask for. We ordered cream with chocolate and another one with stracciatella, but received the first one twice, with cream that we didn't want to have. The taste was good, but very watery and a bit underwhelming. We would probably not return here.

Delicious pistachio ice cream I love you
