I entered thinking I would find a tavern like any other, with red checked tablecloths and a rustic atmosphere, but instead I found myself in a well-kept and valued place.

A short menu but full of attention to nearby slow food presidia, a attentive, polite and kind waiting staff.
From the kitchen, abundant and well-prepared dishes, I luckily happened upon an evening when the dish with the anchovy sauce ran out and was replaced with a Gragnano spaghetti cacio e pepe with shrimp tartare. A good dish of pasta with mussels and beans, and an excellent stuffed squid.
The quality is high, you can feel it and pay with pleasure.
If I pass by Formia again I will return.

Located in the center of Formia is this welcoming restaurant. From the first moment you are welcomed by kind and professional staff. The food is truly exceptional. The owner is a truly polite and helpful person.

For the most part the food was good and fresh. The price-quality was right, €55 each, but the service was surprisingly mediocre. We were 6 people and one of us never received his main dish. After reporting it twice, the plate with an extremely small portion arrived at the table after everyone had already finished their meal.
The co-owner/manager came to the table giving the kind waitress an excuse for this mix-up and mishap, when in reality it was the other co-owner who took the order.
I would have expected more from the owner.
We should have said something, but we didn't want to make a scene or ruin the evening. Sin!
We don't plan on going back anytime soon!

Si ritorna sempre nel posto che si ama. A distanza di un annetto, ho avuto modo di cenare nuovamente al Gatto e la Volpe, per me la vera istituzione di Formia. Un posto unico, speciale, accogliente. Riscrivo la recensione per loro perché è un atto d’amore. Consiglio come sempre il loro antipasto degustazione che è semplicemente divino, con alici marinate a puntino, polpettina di pesce, insalata di polpo, mazzancolle e carpaccio di pesce spada. Come primo questa volta ho optato per un must del locale, pasta mista con fagioli, cozze e polpo (divine) e dopo un tortino al cioccolato unico. La cortesia e la gentilezza del personale è paragonabile ad un 5 stelle. Conto in linea con quello che ho mangiato.

Marine themed place, welcoming and very organised. The waiters are very friendly and professional.

Ristorante molto elegante (abbiamo cenato nella veranda), con un servizio eccellente, dove abbiamo potuto gustare ottimi prodotti e ricette locali di pesce.
Ci hanno offerto un’entratina con polpetta di pasta e fagioli particolarissima e abbiamo scelto lo scialatiello alla gallinella, la pasta fagioli cozze e polpo, la razza al forno, i calamari imbottiti, la scarola a suriciegl, tutti piatti ottimi con una nota particolare di eccellenza per la pasta mischiata.
Con acqua minerale, mezza bottiglia di coda di volpe, 2 caffè 89€ (44,5€ a testa) prezzo assolutamente corretto
