Il Castello In Otranto

This was our favorite spot in Otranto! It’s a cute little family owned spot right across from the castle in the historic part of town. The service was awesome and had some of the best pricing in the area. The absolute standout that had us returning 3 times in 2 days was the pizza! Do not miss getting a pizza if you’re in the area!

Excellent food, impeccable service, and fair prices. This place is perfect for a meal just steps from the castle. The waiters are very kind and fun. We ordered a pizza that was getting cold while we were eating the fried fish, so they took it back and had it remade for us later. Obviously, they didn't include it in the bill. I highly recommend it to tourists passing by.

The atmosphere was lovely, welcoming, and the dishes tasted excellent. A small flaw, perhaps, was the quantity of the seafood salad and the fried shrimp and calamari. The first course we chose, off the menu, was a real treat: ravioli stuffed with scampi, burrata, and sun-dried tomatoes with scampi and scampi tartare (I hope I remember correctly, but it was delicious anyway). There's nothing to complain about this first course, not even the quantity. We also ordered a glass of Fiano di Avellino and a bottle of water. Total €65 for a glass of wine, a water, a first course of the day, a seafood salad, and a fried dish as described above. A fault with the terminal prevented the order details from being printed. I was shown the bill but not the details, so I don't know how much I paid for the first course and the glass of wine. Given the location, the flavor of the dishes, and the service, I think it was a good experience overall. The photos were taken after lunch, as you can see.

The pizza was okay, but one piece looked like it had actually fallen off a shovel – it was a bit egg-shaped, with a hole in the middle, as if the dough hadn't caught its structure. However, the gentleman who took the order was very nice, polite and calm, and the atmosphere of the place itself was good.

We ate very well. Spaghetti carbonara and mussels were really good.

Everything was delicious, the waiters Matteo and Valentino were courteous and welcoming.

We always dine at this restaurant when we visit Otranto, and it's always very good. See you soon!

The food wasn't bad, but the portions weren't entirely satisfying; even the bread served was the bare minimum, but overall, the value for money wasn't bad. I had no complaints about the service, however. Finally, I didn't find the atmosphere particularly comfortable.
