The restaurant is located on the lower promenade that runs along the village, and is comfortable, quiet, and airy compared to other restaurants in the center.
The food is truly excellent, and the service is attentive and friendly.
I'd go back!

We discovered this restaurant during our visit to Matera in the summer of 2026 and were very pleased with our choice.
If you manage to book an outdoor table, the view of the Sassi is breathtaking! The restaurant is welcoming and well-maintained, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
The food is truly excellent, with beautifully presented dishes that showcase the history of the area with careful selection of ingredients.
Excellent value!
For those visiting Matera and looking to eat well and spend a pleasant evening, I highly recommend it!

Overrated place. The food is good, but the portions are really small (typical of gourmet restaurants) and the prices are correspondingly high. The pizzas are so-so, and the rest isn't up to par. Amazing location, fairly fast service. I wouldn't go back.

Fantastic dishes, beautiful ingredients, and delicious flavor. The pizzas were also good. Usually, either the pizza or the other dishes are good, but here both were perfect. The service was very friendly and the dishes arrived quickly.
Try to make a reservation; the view is better outside, and it is a bit damp inside the cave.

Absolutely wonderful food and service! The kind people of this establishment went out of their way to make us feel comfortable which was much appreciated. The food was superb and is priced (if you ask me) too low for the quality your get. An excellent deal! The view from the terrace is stunning and inside you can enjoy the homey feel of the cave. It is a bit of a walk from the city center but definitely worthwhile, would recommend!

Food was pretty good, slow cooked veal was very nice, pizza was decent but not the best we've had in Italy. Service was not great, we had to keep asking multiple times to order, and again to get the bill, and struggled to get staff attention to bring salt and olive oil etc - the staff just kept walking past without checking on us, it would be better if they paid more attention to their customers or maybe have one extra member of staff to help
