Il Caraponzolo In Calcata

28/03/2024: In Viterbo for work, I arrive at the hotel at dinner time and in the downpour. I don't want to go to the center and so I rely on Mr. Google. I find this restaurant a few minutes walk away and so I decide to try it. The place is very informal, halfway between a restaurant and a trattoria, but welcoming and with friendly staff. The manager of the restaurant (I think his name is Maurizio) is a gentleman who is very attentive to customers' needs. The cuisine is typical and homemade. I believe the menu changes according to the day and is displayed verbally by the staff. I ate the spaghetti carbonara which, even if it wasn't how I prefer it (the egg was a little overcooked), was good. For the second course, I could choose between tripe, stew, boiled meat sautéed in a pan with carrots and onion, cutlet and more. I let the manager advise me and so I chose the boiled meat. More than spot on advice. The chunks of meat melted in your mouth and the accompanying sauce was so good that it deserved the slipper. I wasn't able to have dessert because the portions of the dishes were really generous. The bill? Carbonara + boiled meat + 66 cl Peroni + cover charge = €23 for an attractive quality-price ratio. It is worth a stop even if it is not in the center of Viterbo. I will definitely return next time.

25/02/2024: Informal environment, excellent cuisine, quality raw materials. The owner was present and attentive to customer needs, it was a pleasure to meet him. Truly recommended.
