A very nice and quiet restaurant in the heart of Perugia, housed in a historic building.
The staff was also very friendly.
We ordered tagliatelle and steak with truffles... but the truffle had a strange smell and was completely black.
It was probably old and dried out. Looking at other photos, you can see that the truffle is lighter in color with a marbled effect. 🤨
Otherwise, the baked potatoes and the tiramisu were excellent.
There were eight of us and we easily found a table for lunch. The dining room was lovely and the food was very good, especially the pecorino soufflé starter, which was delicious.

Four stars because we leave room for improvement.
Excellent food, from appetizers to first courses, excellent meat dishes, and a wide selection of wines, including the house wine.
Excellent service, right down to the desserts. Highly recommended.
Perugia deserves another visit just to return to this restaurant.
So we'll see you again in March.
Excellent value for money. Okay, I'm not allowed to leave a new review, but after three months I returned and they confirmed the quality and professionalism throughout. 👍👍👍

I had dinner with my wife this evening at Cantinone, and I must honestly say that the staff is extremely professional and kind.
The dishes are of high quality and in adequate quantities.
The price is very fair for what we ate.
(In Liguria, we're used to higher prices, and clearly much higher.)
The only thing I sincerely recommend improving is the wine by the glass. An excellent restaurant like Cantinone should offer its customers the option of a good glass of wine.
This evening, the only wine available by the glass was the house wine.
Congratulations, anyway.
