Wonderful restaurant! The seafood was so fresh and delicious 🦐🐟 The wine was truly Italian. Beautiful atmosphere and friendly staff. The only small flaw? The bill was a bit steep 😅 But it was absolutely worth it, we'll definitely be back!!! ❤️

An 8 euro wine in a wine shop cannot be served for 35.00 without mentioning it on the price list.

We first visited the il Bastione restaurant in May 2024, and since emigrating to Gallipoli, we have been there several times – sometimes with friends. Il Bastione is located in the beautiful Centro Storico of Gallipoli and is embedded in the old city walls. The location alone makes a visit to this restaurant an experience: In the colder seasons, you can enjoy Italian cuisine high above the sea with a fantastic view and a sense of boundlessness. And on the beautiful terrace, with white-clothed tables for dinner, you can sit directly by the sea and enjoy a unique sunset. The warm welcome opens hearts and makes you feel welcome as a guest. The menu is diverse, so every guest will find their favorite dish: whether it's the freshly caught delicacies the Ionian Sea has to offer, or pasta with sophisticated combinations or typical local delicacies. With the turquoise to emerald-green sea in sight, guests are presented with the "fish of the day" – and they choose. What the kitchen and its master chefs conjure up is a delight for the palate, the eyes, and the soul. The attached photo series speaks for itself and bears witness to an unforgettable evening. A visit to il Bastione is rounded off by a rich wine cellar, featuring renowned local wines as well as the most prestigious national and international wines. Our very special thanks go to Alessandro, who accompanied us through all these unforgettable evenings not only with his pleasant courtesy, but also with his considerable expertise. Every recommendation from Alessandro was a delight. Our thanks also go to the entire, friendly il Bastione team. Anyone who doesn't appreciate that the finest ingredients come at a price and that such a unique location also requires maintenance and care, and anyone who just wants to eat their fill and doesn't value culinary delights, shouldn't go to il Bastione. Given this, we have no sympathy for some of the negative reviews. The Marangi family, who owns il Bastione, has created a wonderful gem. Once you've been there, you'll always come back. And when Signora or Signore Marangi and the entire team bid us farewell after a successful evening, we're already looking forward to our next visit to il Bastione.
