Came here two days in a roll for breakfast, the chocolate brioche is absolutely delicious, filled with chocolate and custard, so much that I made a mess all over my shirt in two seperate days... Ill miss this place.

Fragrant croissants, but small.
1 euro extra per person just to seat you at the table, and they don't do the service.
Geniuses!

I ordered the pistachio canoli and it was really good. It was very sweet and the texture was great. All the other pastries in the display case looked really good too, but I was too full from lunch to have any. The lady working at the counter was very sweet and even gave me a student discount. I ate it while I was locked out of my hotel and lowkey it made the situation much better. I was gonna take a picture to put in the review, but I forgot /:

I haven't been to this cafe yet, but I'll go to Florence specifically to visit this cafe and support them, they have low prices and they try to give high quality and ask for extra payment for this if you want to sit there. This is normal practice in Italy, I don't understand why the locals are so indignant. Hold on. The tourists will all come to you.

I'll give you five stars. Even though I've never been there. But reading the news, I'll tell you that if you go to Lazio, Abruzzo, Campania, Marche, Molise, Puglia, Basilicata, Sicily, Sardinia, in most bars, you're required to sit down, and they'll come and take your order, bring you your food, and clear the table, so you don't have to pay.
Absolutely, the issue is very common, and the answer is clear: in Italy, there's no law requiring businesses to allow non-customers to use the bathroom.
However, several aspects must be considered:
* Courtesy and commercial practice: Many businesses, especially bars and restaurants, allow non-customers to use the bathroom as a simple gesture of courtesy or to improve their image. It's their choice, not an obligation.
* Paid restrooms: Some establishments, to manage traffic and cover cleaning and maintenance costs, may charge a fee for their restrooms. In this case, use is open to all for a small fee.
* Public vs. private establishments: Bars, restaurants, and other shops are considered private establishments, even if they're open to the public. This means the owner has the right to regulate access to their services, including bathrooms. Unlike, for example, public restrooms, which are managed by local authorities and are by definition accessible to everyone.
In short, the final decision always rests with the establishment manager.
Nothing if you sit down. And they'll even get pissed off if you ask them to order and get their own things. The problem isn't paying a cent, the problem is that if there are free tables, people should be seated. And don't eat at the counter, where coffee and pastries or savory dishes are served and people spit on them while talking. I'd pay the people who stand at the counter and break the rules.

Tortina della nonna is the pastry shop's flagship product, simply fantastic!!! The prices are competitive for a place in the historic center. The owner, an expert pastry chef, is a person with common sense.
I support the owner's decisions!
