The lady is an institution! She cooks very well and is treated like a grandmother... a little eccentric and fun! 2 starters (porchetta with snow peas and asparagus pie with culatello) 4 first courses of tortelli/tortellini, delicious cutlets and amazing guinea fowl and duck! Experience to do! Good evening also the selection of wines

So the review here is harsh. Let's start with the owner, Mrs. Ada is in all respects the owner of the place... in every sense. In the tavern there is only her who does everything: cooking and serving the tables. The place is very small and the atmosphere is very, very homely and informal. At the same time it is also very entertaining, based on the old customs of the past, where everyone talks and laughs together, in fact it can happen that you get to know the guests during dinner. Obviously it is Ada who decides what you want to eat, the written menus can also be considered for the beauty or decoration of the place. What is certain is that whatever she offers you she will have done it and I assure you that Ada is an excellent cook capable of best representing traditional Emilian cuisine. If this were not enough, the lady displays strong theatrical skills which make her able to entertain diners with real performances based on humor and irreverence which, at times, seem to border on rudeness but I assure you that in her heart they never are. So if you know how to take it and if you know how to adapt, laughter is guaranteed, also because it is good at involving all the guests who, due to the conformity of the place, are never more than fifteen who exaggerate, and finding themselves physically sitting close together they sometimes start talking and joking with each other. Then a lot depends on whether you find it on a good evening or not. Now, having made these necessary premises, it is useless to go if you expect a radical chic, silent and elegant place. This is not the spirit of the place, Ada does not change and will never change. Take it or leave it. What is certain is that, as mentioned above, if Ada is on the day the evening will certainly be unforgettable but, if it isn't, well it will be the same... unforgettable... the choice is yours.

We went to Hostaria La Frasca for lunch by chance. When we walked in we saw that this was a great place to have lunch. The manager, Ada, is a very friendly person and she is the one who prepares everything, you eat what she makes that day, there is no menu. We loved the food and Ada's friendliness. We ate ravioli and pork cheeks. At the end she offered us the coffee nearby, there is no coffee at the Hostaria. A fantastic experience, thank you Ada.

Un posto incredibile. Sembra di mangiare a casa della sig.ra Ada! Il piccolo ristornate ha un arredamento ricchissimo, ma la vera sorpresa è lei. Piatti unici. Tutto fatto in casa, pane compreso. Abbiamo mangiato le caramelle (pasta ripiena con speck e rucola); l’anatra e la torta Barozzi con il gelato. Porzioni super abbondanti. Speso 30 euro a testa. All’interno del locale c’è un cartello con scritto “no caffè, no liquori” perché quelli si prendono con lei, facendo una passeggiata per andare a vedere una quercia gigantesca che si trova nei pressi del ristorante. Una accoglienza unica. Questo locale e la sig.ra Ada, in particolare, valgono il viaggio a Modena!!

29/06/2025: Very good trattoria in the historic center of Modena. We took the trio of first courses for 15 euros each consisting of pumpkin tortelli, tortelli with speck and strigoli mushrooms and bacon. All very good and super cheap. We spent 47 euros for two with two bottles of Lambrusco.

29/06/2025: Why Italian taverns must not close. We just left this tavern, with the taste of cherry tomatoes still in our mouths and the warmth of a soup made properly with the heart. Mr. Claudio, the owner, made us reflect on this phrase "closing an Italian tavern is like burning a library of cookbooks". Guys, in fact we are not just losing a place, but an entire heritage of flavors, stories, traditions and humanity. Taverna are the soul of authentic Italian cuisine. They are not just places where you eat: they are theaters of life, where the scent of the table tells of childhood, where wine is poured like words between friends, where the cuisine is made of expert hands, slow time and real ingredients. Every tavern holds a part of our identity, passed down by word of mouth, gestures, at the table. Closing them means turning off a light in the collective memory of the country. Let's defend them, frequent them, tell about them. Because in every dish served there is a piece of Italy that must not be lost. I'm counting on you
