I tried Gunther's gelato shop in Piazza Sant'Eustachio, intrigued by its fame and numerous positive reviews. You can definitely sense a great deal of attention to the quality of the ingredients and the pursuit of unique flavors, some truly original compared to traditional Roman gelato shops. The gelato has a pleasant texture, and the selection is extensive. However, the overall experience didn't quite meet my expectations. The prices are quite high compared to average, and some flavors, while well-crafted, didn't seem memorable enough to justify the price. Paradoxically, I found some of the more traditional cream flavors to be a bit similar: the hazelnut, while pleasant, doesn't have such a distinct personality compared to other cream flavors, and this ultimately diminishes the surprise you'd expect from such a renowned gelato shop. Furthermore, during busy hours, service can feel a bit rushed (the cookie becomes a bit of an imposition). It's still a decent gelateria, especially for those who enjoy experimenting with unusual flavors, but I personally didn't find it superior to other excellent artisanal gelaterias in Rome. A good experience, but without the surprise effect I was expecting.

The price-performance ratio is good. The cannelloni and the maritozo were also good. We can recommend this place.
