Gucci Cafe In Firenze

A place immersed in a unique atmosphere; Piazza Signoria in the background, the regal Gucci palace, and inside, every object evokes an inimitable style. The dishes are served on Ginori service; the chairs are the inevitable peacock blue. A boutique lent to the kitchen... and what a kitchen! Chef Takahiko blends the most authentic Tuscan ingredients with imaginative Japanese art. The result is a surprising menu that simultaneously makes you feel at home. The flavors are bold and balanced, the pairings daring yet coherent. The icing on the cake is the service: attentive, never intrusive, and extremely kind. The exceptional level of service is demonstrated by the maitre d', who, overhearing a joke between us and the guest, seizes on the special occasion and offers a final surprise: a sweet treat with a candle. Hats off!

Lots of potential but poor value when it comes to the food. The place is gorgeous and the food is served marvelously; however, the food was okay at best compared to the Michelin accolade and the name. There were some winning dishes but overall the menu didn’t tie in well together and the flavors were not bold enough.

Long story short: Pretty disappointed for a one michelin star restaurant. We went for lunch ad decided to order a la carte menu rather than the set menu as we thought it would be too heavy. The pappardelle were absolutely delicious, but thats where the good part of the experience ends. The service was sloppy at best, with the waiters forgetting which language was the preferred one at the table (english) and forgetting drinks. Food was just “ok” -for example the “cinta senese smoked shoulder” was basically 5 slices of good prosciutto cotto with some pickles… I love prosciutto but it that was not a main course. The desserts (we tried their tiramisu) was a real disappointment too. Overall we left feeling like its more about the brand than the actually food.

Everything was impeccable, a fantastic experience.

Elegant setting but mediocre food. Though the restaurant is set in a sophisticated interior, the food was mediocre and disappointing for what might be expected from a restaurant of this standing. I remain with an open mind that perhaps the tasting menu might have been of a higher standing, but feel any dishes offered on the menu by such an establishment should have the same quality. The wine card on the other hand is rich, and of high quality. Unless someone is more interested in the brand itself rather than the food, I would not recommend the restaurant.

Osteria-restaurant attached to the Gucci store in the center of Florence. The atmosphere is discreet and elegant, but not overly so. The table setting is well-designed and the velvet chairs are very comfortable. You can order a fixed menu for €175 or à la carte. Personally, I didn't like the entree, an espresso in black bean broth. It's an experience worth trying in any case.

We had Gucci Osteria pretty high up on our dining list when making our Florence itinerary but after hearing some mixed reviews we opted to go for lunch instead of dinner. As expected, the interiors are pretty fabulous and the service and food ended up being great as well. We opted to order off the a la carte menu in lieu of doing the tasting menu which felt like it would be too heavy for lunch. Favorites were the pistachio spaghetti and the Journey to Modern tortellini which was absolutely incredible. Highly recommend and would also add that you should leave time to do some shopping and see the gucci museum upstairs!

It's worth trying, not bad. The session was nice.
