Guasco Caffe In Ancona

On a hot day, we arrived after 2:00 PM without a reservation. We asked if it was possible to have lunch, and they said yes. We decided to sit outside with a view of the church. Nothing spectacular (a full lunch), but a good gnocchi with clams and two side dishes, and the bread was delicious. The price was fair; by chance I saw it listed in the Gambero Rosso guide. A pleasant discovery.

Well-prepared dishes with quality ingredients, a pleasant atmosphere, and fair prices: it was a pleasant experience, one we'll definitely repeat. The service was a bit slow, but that's understandable given the many unreserved guests arriving on a holiday.

Delicious and sophisticated cuisine. In a major city, it would be worthy of a Michelin star. Fair prices. Very friendly staff. We'll definitely be back on our next visit.

Let's just say I expected more. Aside from the appetizer (roast beef), which I really enjoyed, the other courses fell short of our expectations. Neither the stockfish nor the meat wowed us, and the service, while friendly, wasn't very attentive.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Guasco Restaurant Truly an excellent experience. The food is excellent, truly sublime. My favorite dish, and one I recommend without hesitation, is the rabbit (as a main course, not an appetizer): so good I still dream about it at night. We all had a first course, and almost all of them were delicious. The only exception was the spaghetti with meat sauce, which was decent but lacking any particular character, neither praiseworthy nor infamous. A special mention goes to the maltagliati pasta e fagioli, truly superb. Desserts: the cream was a 10, exceptional. The strudel, however, was only adequate because it lacked any crunchiness. The service was adequate, although it could be a bit more friendly. The decor also deserves a mention, which is truly stunning: it has a simple yet time-worn character, full of details. I couldn't stop looking around at all the posters, book names, and quotes on the walls. The final bill was about €40 per person with wine, a more than fair price for the quality. I would definitely go back.
